Has this car been resprayed?
Hello Everyone. I saw a c63 on craigslist. the vehicle has a clean title, but I was looking at this image and around the c63 emblem it looks like there is a lot of orange peel, do you think the car was in an accident and resprayed?
Also, what is that wax in the crevis between the body panels?
Any input would be greatly appreciated

That car definitely looks like it was hit at about 34mph on the drivers side rear quarter, then that car scraped up the side and broke the mirror off too. You should check the mirror and make sure they used a genuine OEM replacement, because there are a lot of scammers out there that use knockoff mirrors from Vietnam.
And that's definitely ear wax in that crevice. I can taste it from here. You can also tell by the way the blue light wavelengths refract off of it and give it that very unique sheen. I'd check to make sure that whoever deposited their ear wax there was up to date on all their shots.
Good luck

I think you're going to have to check it in person. Bring someone with you who knows what to look for, compare between panels, maybe check depth. I trust BLKROKT usually, but that wax is clearly Meguiars Carnuba.
Or earwax that's been in the sun for more than 72 hours (why it's so pale).

Unfortunately the vehicle is over 700 miles away so I won't be able to see it in person for another couple of weeks. It just looked odd to me and as though it may have been resprayed. Again any REAL input would be greatly appreciated.

I love what this place is turning into.

Get someone to LOOK at it dude. Yeah, it looks weird. You need 50 strangers on the internet to tell you that to make you feel better?

I did offer four REAL solutions.
Also, if there was a body panel he was trying to pull a fast one with, why would he put a close up shot of it on the ad? It doesn't necessarily mean anything, but I can't see a reason behind that.
Maybe contact a local body shop over the phone, and pay them to inspect the car if he's willing. If I was selling a car I wouldn't have an issue with that if it came out of the buyers pocket and the bodyshop was close or he compensated me for my time.

These newer water based paints they have been using for the last 10 years don't level as well as the old stuff. These cars have a lot of orange peal from the factory, but really the only way to tell is to look in person if it is a bad enough job to tell visually or ideally with a paint depth gauge which will tell you right away as it is basically impossible to get the paint depth the same as the rest of the car if part is repainted.

I would say almost all new cars have orange peel from the factory. They simply do not have time to color sand each car rolling down the assembly line. Maybe some hand built exotics are orange peel free ..

That looks like a lot of orange peel. Cameras can play tricks on you, but that doesn't look right to me from here on a computer several million miles away.

Why not get a picture from a different section of the car and compare? An individual car should be pretty consistent with the quality of paint job. I would just see if other parts of the car look like that or not.

That looks repainted to me. And not particularly well.
Maybe so if there is any btiching about it later he can say "I wasnt trying to hide, hell, I put a picture of it in my ad".
And yes, virtually every car has orange peel now. Factory paint is crap. So many gorgeous cars in this town and I frequently walk away shaking my head at the amount of peel.

I remember looking at my buddies dads brand new C5 Z06 in high school (and drooling over it) and being shocked at how much orange peel you could see on the yellow.
What did the seller say when you asked?

Examined my car (never resprayed) and it looks very similar to that in that area. These cars have a lot of orange peel. Will be interesting to find out the truth.
