Are you concerned about this? Because most of them could rust and crumble away to dust, and your car would still be totally fine. They're pretty inconsequential, as long as they're holding the box lids in place (which really doesn't take much, maybe one or two screws tightened by hand).

As an aside, they did update the part number sometime in the past couple of years. The new ones are black oxide coated and won't rust. So someone somewhere noticed what you did. I think they're like $0.25 each. I got them just because they were black, not because I felt the OE ones were faulty in any way.

i found out about the new black screws because i had to replace these... i wasn't going to reuse these... .25 cents? haha.. well that hurts... i called around locally and the only place that had it available the same day had it for $3.00 each... oh well... and it was also funny when i asked why the new screws were black and the guy at the counter said the other ones were prone to rust...

i guess i wouldn't have been too concerned if they all came out in 1 piece but 1 of them broke while i was unscrewing it due to the rust... so it's stuck inside the part that the lid sits on... i've been driving around with 9 out of 10 screws and it seems just fine but it's just annoying...

Yeah fair enough then, that does suck. Are you going to pull that out or just leave one spot unscrewed.

I thought they were cheaper than that. Have you tried plugging the part # in at oediscountparts.com? I'm sure that part number is on a thread here somewhere.....

i've thought about how to get that screw out but it's so small and thin, i don't think it can be done without ruining the plastic around it. i'll either end up ruining that hole anyway and be left with 4 of 5 screws, or get a whole new part to replace the bottom part, or just leave it the way it is until i cave and replace it. lol

i knew if i searched online i could find it cheaper but i couldn't wait because i needed the car... i wasn't expecting to be "screwed" after removing the lids...

It's just plastic. Drill, epoxy, re-tap, done...

Hmm...just finished swapping my plugs (snow day!), and even though my screws are the "older" bare metal mine have no hint of rust.
