Fellow Virginians?
checking to see if there are any other people from Virginia in here.
I see how people have mod'ed their cars (wraps, wheels, mechanical, tunes, interior, exterior, etc.), but I don't have the guts to DIY.
Would be cool to find a fellow Virginian who enjoys (and has experience with) this stuff and would mind showing me how to do some of this stuff...we can do it over a few beers or I can pay you for helping me.
Or if you can recommend some good (trustworthy and reasonably priced) shops...?

I'm in Fredericksburg. I just got my C63 in February, but I've had the mod bug with every car I've ever had. I'm new to the AMG Scene. My last two cars were a 2010 E60 M5 and a 2012 Nissan GTR.In the last couple of months I have already added the Eurocharge V6 tune, Row air box, FI headers, RW carbon Spoiler, diffuser and lip. I am always down to help out a fellow enthusiast. I also know a local guy who runs a side business installing performance parts and modifications I would be happy to hook you up with as well . Cheers

I moved from VA in Dec. I was down in VA Beach. I hardly ever saw any other AMGs, especially modded ones. I would have loved to have met up with some AMG people instead of being the one non-douche in the BMW group.

Both are awesome cars, just completely different animals. The GTR was quicker but nowhere near as fun to drive. There is something about high torque/ horsepower naturally aspirated rear wheel drive cars that appeals to me. I still haven't got the C63 on the track yet so I'll let you know more then.

Do you have any pics of work that you have done to cars, preferably Mercedes?
Sorry, new to all of this.

I'm in Fredericksburg, but moving next month to Silver Spring, MD. Still semi local to DMV. I have a 4 point lift and some tools. Ok with easy to medium skill jobs. I know my limits.

Other bit - on recommended shops, not sure what your experience is around with shops, or benz mechanics specifically:
World Foreign Car Service on three chopt is a great option for regular wrenching if you need. Guy that owns it has been wrenching on benzes for as long as I can remember, reasonably priced too.
If you must, Peter over at west broad mcgeorge is probably the best (least pain in the ***) of the service writers over there if you ever need to run to the dealer. Last guy on the row.
Wraps/Tint - United Solar down by Chesterfield Town Center off southlake. Great people - certainly know what they're doing.
Body work/paint - Burleigh's Auto Body. Also good people, original owner's moved on, but the staff is all still the same. They would rather do collision repair, but if you need, they will do other stuff. Just look in their lot sometime when they're open what's sitting out front will generally be all the proof you need that they're good.
Tires/Alignment - Vonderlehr on Chamberlayne. Good people, reasonably priced.
As far as the other categories, in Richmond, no idea anymore.
I've been mainly a VW guy for a long time - quite a capable wrench when it comes to most things... I just never have the time anymore. Done more than my share of heavy engine maintenance and suspension builds on the like... kinda necessary when it's your old track car ('02 GTI).

^^awesome man, thanks!
I will keep Peter in mind over at McGeorge's. I also heard good things about United Solar, I got them to do my tint. Bobby, the owner, is a nice guy.
I will keep World Foreign Car Service on my mind too! Thanks for the helpful info.
Maybe we can meet up one day. I live in SS.

Alright, I don't normally engage in idle chat here, but I just gotta know...
What in the world are y'all doing buying a C63 (or any AMG type vehicle) when you live in Virginia?!?
1. Bad story
2. Bad Story
3. Bad story
Heck, it's even an autocomplete in google after "don't speed in..."
I don't think I would buy anything faster than a G-Wiz/REVAi or Smart car if the stories are to be believed...
Do you put a block of wood under the gas pedal, or maybe just disable the right cylinder bank?

LOL. I laughed really hard reading this post. You just have to be smart and have a lot of gadgets that help you out. On a side note. Is anyone going to Richmond Cars & Coffee (Saturday) or the Dulles Cars & Coffee (Sunday). Weather looks better than last weekend. Looking to meet what few of us that are actually out here. Also, looking at creating a Mercedes FB Group for our area whether its for all Mercedes or just AMGs. Let me know what you think and a name!

I'm in Fredericksburg also... I will be out of town this weekend but usually I go to C&C up in northern VA. Never been to the Richmond one though. As far as the horror stories, one of my first mods on all of my cars is a escort 9500ci radar detector w/ laser defense it has saved me many times in my old M5 and in my GTR.

ALCON: I have created a Facebook Group for us sense I could not seem to find one for our area. It is called Atlantic Mercedes Group (AMG) lol. Please join! Hopefully it'll bring us together to share thoughts, ideas, and setup events. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. Thanks!

Wonder if yours was the black C63 I saw on grove a week or two back. Realize that's a little ways from Northside. Anyway, it was memorable because not only am I in the market to purchase one, but I also never see any around here (b5s4 currently). Looked awesome.
