Hopeful 1st time owner soon! Looking for anyone's 2 cents

Hi All,
New here so apologies up front for lack of forum experience.
I am in need of owners and enthusiast for their experience and knowledge.
I have the means and opportunity to purchase a 2010 C63 local to me here in Ma. It has 13k mi and with sales tax get in it for under 40k.
Does this seem like a good deal?
What are the thoughts on the Headbolt issues that have been plaguing these motors? I have so many questions and really want to pull the trigger but I'm concerned about lack of warranty and reliability.

In advance. Thanks for anyone who reads and responds to my dilemma.

Need to experience that "Smile Factor" again..

I paid 40k in MA for my 2013 with 39k miles and pretty much all the options including LSD (no P31), dealer car, 3 years of warranty still on it last August, that 2010 is too much money even with the low miles it has the possibility of having the head bolt issues and doesn't have some of the nice options of the facelift cars.

TY that makes a lot of sense. I'm testing the waters and for some reason am being drawn to a MB I've always wanted one. My DD is at 197k and still pulls strong great Lexus reliability.Run royal purple oil and amsoil trans fluid. But Mid life is creeping in and I really don't want to get another 71 vette. Well kinda Don't haha.
When does the W205 kick in? I'm Soooo over my head with it all but willing to learn and love reading the stories and lives of those who live and love MB :-)

2012 Mercedes C63 AMG S
AMGmb1: I can identify with your situation, as I went through the buying process just 3 to 4 weeks ago, ultimately buying a 2012 C63 with P31 and numerous other options, and under 27k miles (under 44k kilometers) on it. I DO have some advice:

1. Read as many of the recent posts, and then also some of the earliest posts, on this subforum dedicated to the W204 (pre 2015) C63. With a few hours of time invested, you will learn the common problems, the value of certain options, the tire and fuel consumption costs, etc. You will then be a far more educated buyer who knows what to look for and what to avoid.

2. Read the magazine road tests easily found online (Car and Driver, Motor Trend, etc) to get a feel for how the professional reviewers see this car versus other competitive brands/models.

3. Check the cost of insurance in your specific area with your specific driving record and age. This can be a pleasant, or an unpleasant, surprise.

4. Research and understand the ongoing maintenance requirements and costs, especially if done at a Mercedes dealership. These maintenance requirements are required to be followed in order to maintain EITHER a Mercedes or aftermarket warranty. In addition, it is often not feasible to do many of them yourself (e.g. transmission fluid change $400, Locking differential fluid change $150 to $200, Panoramic roof lubrication and bolt retightening $varies). This is because they require special procedures and/or tools not found just anywhere.

5. Either buy a car with an extended warranty (MB best, or aftermarket not as good) and understand what the repair costs can be without a warranty. Some can be VERY costly - enough to create real issues for people who don't keep a 4-figure contingency fund in the bank. Check specifically for example on what a front axle only brake job, which is always needed at SOME point, can cost on a C63 with the P31 package with its Brembo 2-piece (actually 1.5 piece) rotors. You may cringe. Also, did you know that the cost of a replacement headlight is well into 4 figures?

Don't just ask the general question you asked. Everyone's view, wallet, and degree of comfort with repairs and their cost are different. YOU need to do SPECIFIC research that will tell you if this car fits within your degree of comfort.

For what it is worth, I did this research, and even though I am retired and therefore on a substantially reduced income, I found I could afford and justify the car. BUT, I almost passed on it, until my MB dealer picked up the over $3000 CDN cost of a "top grade" extended warranty that's good for 4 years. I had figured out that I could, and was WILLING, to handle many of the repairs and costs that COULD come along, but not ALL of them. Hence the warranty.

Wow I honestly didn't expect to get much if any replies. And Hell I'm still learning how to nav arnd this damn forum lmao. great advice Jim G! I have been educating myself for a while again just stumbled last wk onto this low mileage C63 at a local high end motorsports dealer very reputable. I would be wise to continue with my enlightenment of the German side of the power spectrum. But it seems there are So many out there who are willing or have been brand loyal that there is a benefit to it all. Finance wise it's a whole new level for me but I know I can afford it. Just paid off my house and maybe I'll have my tenant pay for the rest..Shh.. dammit inside voice! Insurance is $125/mth sale tax and good ole Excise Tax Friggin taxachussetts Grrr.. But again I can't thx enuf for the insite and answers..
