Girodisc pad life?

Anyone have the girodisc pads and rotors?

I just wondered what kind of life you get with normal driving. I bought the car with less than 1000 mi on them. I'm starting to get a little squeal when stopping but they may just need a spirited drive to clean them off.

Thanks!

TC

What kind of pads? Stock? Probably unknown if they were on the car when you bought it. Stock pads are known to squeak after awhile. My portfields have 15k on my slotted girodisc rotors. Quiet as a mouse. Just peek behind the wheel and see how much pad you have left. Mine still look pretty thick even after some spirited driving. We will see how they hold up to some track sessions in July heat in California.

I had the exact same set up on the last car, and I miss it. Wish I had the shop time to return to OEM before I traded in. Better wear with the Girodisc than the P31 rotors and less dirt and noise with the Porterfields.

I will have to recuse myself from answering OP's question.

They are Girodisc pads. I bought the car from a friend who put them on. I need to look at the pads when I get home.

Thanks!

Im curious now. I have known people who have the rotors, no one with the pads though. Which is kind of odd come to think of it. Ill be interested to hear about their lifespan and performance.

604--He said he put the GD pads and rotors on and gave me the OE pads and rotors (with about 10k mi on them) when I got the car.

I need to look into the OE stuff more. I just shoved them into the corner of the garage. I'll post pics of both units when I get home.

An interesting post just after I replace pads on all 4 corners with OEM to eliminate squealing brakes. I don't need more and the car was in the shop for AC evaporator replacement so it was convenient. Got a good price discount on the parts.
I had cracks in the fronts and only 3 mm left on the rears left after what looks like 46000 km as there is nothing in the service records showing any brake pad replacements.
I will be interested to follow this discussion.
