Retrofitting Morimoto D2S 4.0 on Eagle Eyes Headlights

Hi guys,

An unfortunate (and somehow good that made me go in this direction) incident happened where my neighbors trailer left its driveway and ended up in my car

I decided to look for different headlights (I retrofitted the Morimoto Mini H1s projector on Spyder previously) and I wanted to change the look. I found this brand called Eagle Eyes (from Taiwan) but they only sell in bulks. I found a seller from Italy on eBay. I retrofitted Morimoto D2S 4.0 (it was painful because it was huge for the space) and changed the grille to matte black. Also I deleted the side markers. I used the following setup: Morimoto D2S, 50W Ballast, and Philips White Vision 2 bulb. The outcome was amazing but I didn't like the color of the bulb. It was bright but closer to a halogen look. I'm looking at getting a Morimoto 6000K bulb next or see if one of the Osrams can be any good. Any one suggestion is welcome!

I leave you with the pictures

Whoa. Those are like a cross between facelift and pre-FL headlights. They look good!

Nice work! You picked the right headlight to do this on - are those mini H1's on the outside?

I bought a set of DEPO's and gutted them and am doing the same with installing D2S 4.0's. Painful is right. Especially getting the alignment right while keeping all the internal trims/shrouds in place.

Nice to see a successful outcome!

The fog lights? No, I kept them stock for now. I used mini H1's only on my old Spyder (1st picture). Now only D2S for low beam.

In case anyone is interested in those headlights, they're here.

You probably want to use this bulb.

OTOH I installed these bulbs in a BMW a few months ago. They are (by test) the best performing bulbs currently because of their precise focus and lack of glare. The test show the top Philips and Osram bulb are fairly even in output but the Nightbreaker provides the best, most even illumination. Unlike what the blurb below states though, I don't find them blue in the slightest, rather just a white white. Having driven them through the burn-in process even I'd like them to have more of a hint of blue.

Do you have a link to the headlights themselves?

These are the headlights. It shows the quantity over 10 but the listing has ended. Just ping the seller I guess

The Morimoto D2S are amazing at night. I drive up toward the mountain to get home and it's clear like daylight.

Bhamg, I'll give the CBI a look. I'm deciding between the CBI and CBH.

that setup looks great.....i am a headlight junkie to the core and had loved the 4.0s until i got a pair of the EvoX-R 2.0 units from retrofitlab and they are unfreaking believable....also they are a little easier to package than the 4.0s were AND allow you to keep the D1S bulbs without having to use adapters.

...thanks for the link to those headlights as well, i had tried to find those exact lights for about 6mo previously but could only find them from a company in Australia that would not ship to US.

....CBIs and CBHs are still my favorite bulbs though

Sorry for the late response, just saw it now. Yes they're plug and play.

I put a CBH and it's pure white in my opinion with a hint of blue. It's because my ballast is 55W and the bulb is rated at 35W. If I change the ballast to 35W, I'll get a more blue light but now is just perfect. Bright and clear. Here is how it looks at night.

So I'm debating picking up a pair of these...

Question though -- The listing states H7 bulbs are included, but OP states these are plug and play? Assuming on a C63 without Bi-Xenon?

For a car equipped with Xenon, I'd assume these are a no go?

Edit -- with Morimoto EVOX-R 2.0, retrofitted, looks like these are plug and play. With Morimoto D2S 4.0., you need D1S to D2S adaptors.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

I will seriously pay someone $50 if they tell me how to wire these to my factory HID's.
