Trade in C63 for Giulia QV?
Hi all,
Not that I'm going to do this but after all of the very positive reviews I've read as to the performance capabilities of this new entrant in the super saloon venue, I was wondering if anyone has driven one or is thinking about doing so. Or has anyone already done so and, if so, what's it like living with it so far. I've read that there have been some issues up to and including the car shutting down requiring a tow so juries still out on long term reliability I guess.
I know that our C63 isn't perfect but after 20 plus K miles I've had no issues other than the Contis needing replacement at a little less than 13k miles. Not even the 2009 ISF I had went that long before needing unscheduled work. Anyway, just curious.

Recent models might have become more reliable, but it's indeed worthwhile to wait a few years given FCA's track record on reliability. If it wasn't for reliability, I would definitely say go for it. Heck it pretty much has the 488 engine minus 2 cylinders.

I agree that waiting to see how this new Giulia does over at least a year is the prudent thing to do. The E63 is indeed a great machine and the newest one even more so hachiroku. C63fora2w1, have you driven the F-type or ridden in it and, if so, how does it compare to the C63?

I have not had a chance but there are a couple V-8 versions locally that I have had my eye on. There is a SVR version that comes with 575 hp and looks awesome with the hood vents.

Lol, recommending a Jaguar, a ****ing Jaguar, after showing concern about the Giulia's reliability.
Of the 3 cars in their little class, C63, M3 and Giulia, the Giulia is the car that seems the most "exciting" to me.

That's just shows you how horrible the Alfa really is, when a Jag looks like a waaay better option in terms of reliability. At least the jag hasn't consistently broken down for a few publications.

Its the first time they are making this car. It's going to be riddled with problems, even if it were coming from a more reliable manufacturer. We all know to avoid cars that come out in the first year as to avoid these "growing pains".
Hell, we see it in our C63s not just 1 year but several down the road from the headbolt problem.
The Guila looks like a gorgeous car, probably drives very nicely too, but for me it's a definite wait and see on it.

The Gulia is a really nice car, but I don't trust it's reliability just yet. I would never buy a first year car let alone a first year Alfa.
My choice of the C63S and the new Alfa, the C63s has a WAY better interior a much better TTV8 engine that is detuned for 500hp VS a cranked up TTV6. The only thing the Gulia does in my opinion that is better is the handling and you can very easily do a few mods to the C63S and you will have a way better, much more reliable car.

Here's an interesting article to anyone thinking about purchasing an Alfa. The verdict is DON'T BUY, JUST LEASE IT!

I'll pass on that. Gorgeous car, no way I'd risk getting stuck in the middle of nowhere.

I have a relative who has owned an XK-R and XJ Vanden Plas for ten years, still has 'em, and swears by their reliability. That's why I think my next car's gonna be an F-Type R (maybe convertible).

Of course you are, but really is it too much to expect to drive the car you paid $80,000 for? In the target market for the QF (AMG, M, RS) or even the Ti (330i, A4, C class), do you think it's acceptable to have to guess whether or not you'll make it to work?

I deal with cars of all shapes, sizes and varieties all day long and it is the more expensive ones that are less reliable due to the technology and performance they have built in. Sad but true. You want to turn the key and go without concern. Buy a Camry. lol

Right. If you say so. My point is that if your paramount concern is reliability (and not being left stranded in the middle of nowhere) you shouldn't be looking at any of these cars. You should buy a Toyota. If you draw the line of acceptable and projected reliability somewhere between a C63 and a Alfa Romeo, good for you.
