Carbon fibre hood?

Anyone have a dads CF hood for sale?

Seibon makes a vented CF hood, has anyone bought one?

I have that CF hood. It is beautiful, fitment (for me) was close to perfect, and the vents let out at least some engine bay heat. I recommend it.

I think Mode Carbon was making a 507 style hood in CF.

The 507 vents look small. With headers and the blower my under hood temps are crazy., I need some vents to release the heat.

Clark, thanks for the reply, where did you order it from?

Suncoast Creations in FL was last selling it. Not sure if they still are but it's probably worth checking.

What about this? https://carboncreations.com/carbon-c...11-428995.html

I believe extreme dimension is the parent company and they're a forum sponsor. I was contemplating this or the Seibon.

I have a connection for Seibon (major distributor) in the GTA. Shipping out west from here may not compete with US pricing.

Shoot me a PM if you you're interested though...

I see most of these hoods are for the PFL cars. And it doesn't seem that mode Carbon is making their 507 hood any longer (at least it isn't on the website). Anyone know of any for the FL cars?

I bought mine through VIS Racing. The last I checked the price was ~$2500. Years ago, when I bought mine is was $1300 iirc.

too bad no one makes one like the sls black, with a huge cut out to get all the radiator heat out. i feel like most of the hoods are mostly for show and not performance

Agreed. I have a couple of ideas I've been toying around with about what to do with the hood. Stay tuned, the Dremmel is going to get a workout....

Dads hood is good, it's has lots of vents. The heat the comes straight up from the headers is right where he has a about 4-5 slots. I just ordered one.

I was also thinking about ceramic coating my headers. But, it's quite a huge job to fit the headers. Don't want to go through the hassle of removing them and re-installing them.

Here is a FL hood -- http://www.ebay.com/itm/302258983622

This is the same guy that makes the PFL Dads hoods. Decent guy and responds quickly. Message him directly may be able to get a better deal and also if you have it shipped sea freight and arrange from your closest port would get a better rate too. Can say I referred you may help since I was in touch already.

Great hood! Love the fitment, it is spot on perfect! Only one blemish in the entire hood when I got it.

DO NOT USE THE FACTORY HOOD SHOCKS!!!

Vents dropped my temps by about 10-15 degrees.

You don't want to use factory hood shocks on any carbon hood because it will push the hood up higher than the fender body line. Some higher end manufacturers make weaker lift supports that are included with the hood. But a simpler trick is to find someone on the forum with older lift support struts and buy them. (i'm sure the owner will think you are crazy, but will be happy to make a couple bucks on selling old lift struts.) Then install those, the weaker lift will compensate.

Thank you, I'll have to do that. The price is already pretty good, but that shipping though... Yikes. I'll check it out!

I got a Seibon as well. Fitment is great. Quality is OK though. After awhile you see some sun spots on the clear coat but that goes for many CF products. I'm going to paint mine eventually. You are able to use factory hood shocks but just use ONE. Good luck!
