H&R Coilovers

Ordered a set last week, they went in on Saturday. Straight forward install... the fronts were easier than the rears. Took about 2 hours total.

Had to do the rears twice, because with perches sitting at lowest position in the rear, the car sat at factory height. Removed perches and problem solved. Fronts are maxed out sitting at the lowest position.

Stock FTG Measurements:

Front: 27''
Rear: 25.5''

Current FTG measurements:

Front: 25.5''
Rear: 24.5''

Car is sitting flush all around. Maybe half a finger gap... but I'm guessing springs should settle slightly after a week.

One thing I wanted to inquire about was the front bump stops. The stock bump stops would not fit on the H&R coilovers. I'm running without them up front. Haven't bottomed out though since I've had them installed. Anybody else running these coilovers without front bumpstops??

Will attach pics shortly.

I have them as well no bump stops and never had an issue with any bottoming out even on some pretty terrible Canadian roads

No issues at all. In a week will go get alignment checked.

Anyone else not running bump stops up front on these coilovers?

I found the OEM P31 suspension was stiffer. Car is smooth on this setup. Cornering is much improved... no drama.

Kriston, you had these coilovers. Were you running without the bump stops up front?

I ran them without the bump stops. Worked fine / no issues.

The H&R Coilovers actually go a bit lower to the KW V3's, sucks because I really like the ride height on the H&R Coil overs.

Do the V3's have a helper spring up front? Removing it would settle that issue.

Its maxed in the front. Still sits a few MM higher compared to the H&R's.

Kriston, you've had both the H&Rs and and the KWs?
If so, how do they compare?
I've never been in a car with the H&Rs.

Yes i owned both, but the H&R's are better compared to the V1's. I have the V3's now.

V3's are leaps and bounds better, adjustable dampening being the biggest difference. Ride quality is better, handling on both were improved, but the car feels much better with KW's overall.

They make V1's for our cars?

Nope just the V3 and DDC setups. Just stating the H&R's are better compared to the V1's as they are more alike compared to the H&R's and V3's.

Gotcha. Yes these H&R's are a pretty entry level coilovers setup for anyone interested. Great for street performance and I have zero complaints so far. If you're tracking your car and putting it through the ringer... V3's are a better choice.

I just couldn't swallow that $4000 KW V3 pill LOL

The H&R's are great coil overs. I really enjoyed them. The PFL W204's had really stiff suspensions from the factory, the H&R's rode more plush compared to factory setup.

Im no track rat, just like a well balanced ride.

It took me a few years of deciding to finally pull the trigger on the V3's too.
