Is it worth it to upgrade to a C63?

So here is the deal... I have a C300 that is quite extensively modded...

Attachment 441781
Attachment 441776

In a year or two I would have liked to upgrade to a C63 with a budget of 40k, but my friends tell me that my car looks so good that is not worth it to get a stock C63 just for the engine. They say instead I could get something that looks way better for that money like a Porsche Panamera Turbo (I prefer the ML63).

What do you think? If I got the C63 I would get rid of the C300 and loose most of my investment (don't want two of the same car). If I got the Porsche in 1-2 years I would sell the C300, but if I wait a while longer say 2-3 years and pay off the C300, I could keep it as a beater and also get the Porsche.

What would you do if you were in this situation?

Your friends are idiots. You're not going from say a WRX to an STI, you're going from a C300 to an AMG.

You won't get much upgrade looks-wise since your car looks amazing to me but it is quite a performance jump.

Well, if you are going to mod the C63 the same way as your C300 then don't upgrade to a C63. Because that would be a shame to have a C63 look like your C300.

That is why I wouldn't mind doing it, but besides performance/engine, it really is the same car?

Everyone around here loves the Panamera because it is a halo car in the Hispanic community due to being featured in a lot of music videos.
C63 would be because I like the W204 platform and the engine is amazing. ML63 vs Panamera Turbo because 4WD for NE and comparable performance/sound to C63.

Is it really that ugly? I think the spoiler helps the back end a lot. The front is very Porsche.

Thanks! I would do it just for the exhaust honestly

There really isn't much more you could do though? If I got a C63 I would get it in white. I would do all the lips like the C300 in gloss black because it looks better than carbon fiber (to me) and all the spoilers/grills. So essentially I would get it to almost the same point except it would be twice as powerful. I would get rid of the C300 if I had a C63 though.

figure out what is important to you. While its nice that your friends will have your back in some situations, don't let them sway you from what you really want. Take them for a drive in the AMG and they will probably change their minds anyway.
Seriously though, you make all the decisions for yourself and get to live with them. Friends can ***** about your car but its not their car to live with. Get what you want and EFF the haters.

Also to answer your first question. HELL YEAH its worth the upgrade. Everything is better AMG.

I too think Panamera's are extremely ugly. If I was going to dump $40k into a car right now, it would be a used Maserati Granturismo.

If you don't want that, get a C63 or even E9X M3. It's not "just an engine" that's difference between your C300 and a C63.

If you enjoy awesome engine/exhaust sounds then get the c63 and don't look back.

If you want to track your car regularily then reconsider. Also, if you want to impress randoms then do not get a c63 because it looks the same as a regular C. Coupe even looks like an accord. A Panamera is way more distinctive and carries the Porsche name. Even M3 has way more recognition than C63. Until you rev in the city.

You sound like all you care about are looks, and modifying the appearance. Because if you cared even a little about performance you would already be in a C63.

So just pay off your car and decide what you want to do then.

If you are looking for pure performance at ~$40k, IMO you can't beat a used 996 Turbo.

Since the 204 is old already, I'd say move on to a completely different car. By the time you buy the 204 C63 in a couple of years, the 205 C63 will have been out for 4 years or so already. But like others have said, ultimately get what you want, it's your money and your car.

You could take all your mods off your C300 and put them onto your AMG, that way no huge loss on the C300 and basically all your modding is done for the AMG.

I also think the Panamera is ugly as hell.

It's not just the engine/performance. The overall feel, sounds, build quality and enjoyment you get from it, is something you have to experience yourself. I have daily drove mine for close to the last 3 years and it has always made me smile. It is a very unique car that you can't compare to the C300 (like comparing a Camry to a Corvette).

They probably would change their mind, they already think my C300 looks, sounds and drives insane

I used to think it was ugly too, but its grown on me, especially in white with the black spoiler
I need 4 doors, you can see my son in the back up top. Never liked BMW, they all look the same

There is a 99% chance it will never see the track besides maybe some 1/4 mile drag strip. Yes, everyone recognizes what a Porsche. I would never choose an M3 or even an M5 over a C63.

I care a lot about looks because I get excited every time I see it, I have not worried much about performance cause I have never sat or driven a car with over 300sh HP so I have no idea what to expect out of a C63, but I know it will be awesome.

Can't do 996, I need 4 doors.

W204 C63 will go on to be a very popular car I think because of the engine and the aggressive design. I would not choose a 40-50k W205 C63 over a 30-40k W204 C63 in 1-2years.

That's true, one of the good things about having a FL W204, cause I wouldn't get anything less than a FL C63.

I totally have to experience it cause I don't think I know what I'm in for

Perhaps a Honda Civic would be a better choice for you.. I heard the more stickers you put on it the faster they go.

The new gen Panamera looks much better than previous one, but it just came out so that would be out of the question budget wise. First gen looks like a dog taking a dump.

Are those caliper covers on your C300? If not, that driver's front bleeder valve is on the bottom of the caliper when it should be on the top (because air rises).

Your C300 looks great, but it is all show and no go, if that is what you are into then you are all set. I like all go and some show, but would take the go over anything and have an ugly C63 that is fast as hell!

doesn't matter how much money you've dumped into your C300 it'll never have as much power as a 6.2 Liter V8 without a motor swap.

as far as the Panamera...that's your call.

Hey, is that good 'ol iridium silver or is it matte wrapped? I'm viewing it on mobile and looks matte in some photos.

Regarding panamera vs C63, I do like my C63 better due to performance and being a smaller car(coupe). But when I need a couple more seats, I take the panamera out. It's definitely a hit or miss, but imo I think the panamera looks great.

edit** I don't think anyone needs 2 sedans. Get a coupe and a sedan.

Yeah I did not look up the C63 brakes so I put them upside down, I have to take them off and flip them again. Thanks for the lesson, did not know the purpose of the valve, I thought it was some sort of drain

Trust me I want a 500WHP unicorn too, but I am being distracted from getting a C63 cause "It is the same car".

ML63 is an AMG too though. I love the C63, but having had a C300 that looks this good, why would I get a RWD stock C63 when I could get a ML63? I hear it can be a beast too plus I kinda need AWD for PA (although I wouldn't mind a set of winters) and I have no plans to track it.

That is my problem. If my C63 looked like this I would probably run it into the ground and never sell it, but it really is not fast at 228HP.

Is Iridium Silver, but I used a brightness filter to make the wheels pop.

Nice to know you have both, I also think the looks need to grow on you because at first it looks odd.

C63 Coupe is not as sharp as Sedan

I've upgraded from a W204 C350 to a W04 C63

It felt like the biggest upgrade ever. They are totally not in the same league. I don't miss my C350.

Just go test drive one and you'll see the first moment you press on the gaz.

maybe look into the 507 if you're interested in a W04 C63?
