Tranny overheat on track? Wiestec tranny pan?
Dear fellow people who track their cars, any of you have experience where shifting up from 3 - 4 after a couple of laps would be really slow? At first I thought it was only on my car because of the extra power, but i have a friend who has the same issue completely stock. Apparently it is because of the tranny overheating, can anyone confirm or deny?
On a side note, anyone have the weistec tranny pan? Comments?

Yup. Transmission gets grumpy and slow during long track sessions. The Weistec TCU/VB upgrade helps but sadly they don't offer it anymore. I'll be looking to upgrade my trans cooler over the winter, so stay tuned for details.
I have the Weistec trans pan. I don't think it does much for temps, but I like the extra capacity as insurance.

I think the pan is good insurance with 50% more fluid capacity, and the cost is reasonable enough. It's cheaper than a new trans, and you have to believe that it can only be helping.

I have Weistec Transmission pan on my CLK BS,
It had 1.8L of oil which is approximately 20-25% more than stock
Without Gearbox oil temp on the cluster, impossible to know how it improve cooling.

Larger fluid capacity will only increase time it takes to overheat not solve the heat problem. The weistec pan has -8 fittings for an additional cooler that could be mounted under the trunk with a fan on it. That would likely solve the issue.
