Very beautiful and rare car, sad to let it go. As you all probably know this is the last year Mercedes made naturally aspirated v8 6.3L engines for the C63. This thing is a BEAST. True 507 edition = 507hp!

I find it funny that people always bring this up. Technically I believe it's like 6.207 right? When I was racing motorcycle racing there was a strict limit at the exact litre/ of the bike. For example of a 1000cc bike like 1010cc it would get upclassified as an 1100 or at least forced to race in the 1100 class...so while technically it's much closer to 6.2 than 6.3 that might not be how they're technically classified, at least it wasn't in the bike world.

Not really. I've yet to hear lifter noise from a car with a healthy valve train.
A friend of mine is looking for a 2013 or 2014 coupe with the forged internals... this would have been the perfect car had it not been "improved" by a tune (and now an engine in need of repairs).
P.S. The broken front plate mount - all of $20 and two minutes to replace - says a lot more about how well the car was looked after than the seller's description.

While the tune may or may not have anything to do with the lifter noise, both the tune and the lifter noise would prevent me from recommending this particular vehicle to someone who is actively looking for one with cash in hand. As for your two C63s making that noise after sitting for a few days, I submit that they both had valvetrain wear issues. Whether and by how much a more aggressive tune (applied to an already aggressively tuned car that didn't really need it) contributed to the valvetrain wear is hard to quantify, but according to your logic, smokers that die from heart attacks are not really a result of them smoking because it was the heart attack that killed them.

M156 valve buckets are prone to bleed down. Yes, this will over time cause valvetrain wear, but it is a characteristic of the M156 and does not mean your valvetrain currently has wear issues. Now, if this sound is present with every cold start, then you have a problem. This issue was addressed in the M159 with SLS buckets...

... which were also put in all M156 engines manufactured after a certain date (before the facelift), so the buckets in 2013 or 2014 MY cars that I was specifically referring to are most definitely NOT prone to bleeddown. When the shop foreman at a major corporate MB dealership tells me that valvetrain ticking noise on any FL car he has ever seen or heard of has been caused by valvetrain wear, I tend to believe him. I'm afraid it is correct.
If valvetrain wear were the cause of this ticking noise, then how come it is intermittent and not always present? Care to explain?

That car is really loud and might be low on oil or was ran hard with low oil.
I can't imagine what it sounds like with the hood open.
I would stay away and I've had my whole top end done under warranty and mine sounded way healthier than this car and still got the job done.
OP I would see if the car is under warranty and have the top end gone over.
