CV joint issue or just cold?

Whenever I just start my car and have my steering wheel turned all the way to either direction, I hear a loud bump/clicking sound from the front axle. However, whenever I'm pulling into tight spots after some driving, I hear no sounds even if I have my steering wheel turned all the way. Is this an issue with the car being cold, or a problem with CV joints/axle? What additional diagnoses can I do?

There is no cv joints on the front axle, unless you have an all wheel drive non c63
clicking as you describe would most likely come from a wheel bearing

So... wheel bearing or just cold?

A "loud bump/clicking sound from the front" is NOT normal no mater what the temp is outside.

Took it to two different shops, both said it's nothing. It's the wheel tilt when the steering is all the way plus really cold tires rubbing the inside of the wheel arch. One shop that services Lotuses too says they see a lot of those with Lotuses as well.

Mine doesn't do that.

Do you have aftermarket rims with aggressive offset or over-sized tires on it? Shouldn't rub the fenders from factory...

“Tire skip” is totally normal and common on cars with wide front tires. It’s geometry. That’s probably what you’re hearing/feeling, mine tends to do it more in parking garages (or painted concrete) when the tires are hard as hockey pucks like they probably are now. (when tires are nice and warm and squishy you’re just not going to notice it as much)

Theres a good pdf describing this floating around out there on one of the Corvette forums but I can’t find it right now.

I think ec_nova was just saying it's normal... We all get it now. Besides, me being mis-informed about rubbing does not substantiate any positions based on my mis-informedness.
