Well anything done on these cars exhaust system is a PRO , CONS expect to break necks. In all seriousness if your looking for a little more volume just delete the secondary's then if that's not enough delete the resonators in that order. I have both straight piped and I love every single decibel being pushed out the rear.

As far as I know...

Second Cat Delete
- Good increase in WOT noise, a little more at cruise, and maybe 5hp increase

Resonator Delete (straight pipe)
- Louder but raspier
- Can drone
- No HP increase

I can't say for certain, just what I've read. I went straight in for headers. No eardrums left.

What is your muffler setup?

I am thinking of running catted ARH headers with the stock mufflers to retain the AMG bark but at a much higher volume.

I deleted both my primary and secondary cats, and my resonator, and the car sounded great. Was fairly loud.
Now I have IPE headers, with no cats, into stock resonators.
It sounds insane. I love it.
If you want power and sound, just fit headers.

Stock mufflers, stock resonator, headers with 200 cell cats.

I love it, but beware the first 500miles with headers sound ridiculous until they coke up a bit.

It's AMG sound X 400.

+1 for this set up - sounds great!

I have an X-Pipe as well but not really sure how it impacts sound vs going straight into the resonator. No drone, very tame under 2k rpm, but loud AF when you floor it or downshift. Great for a daily driver/driving with the wife situation.

Totally agree, so civilised when cruising and no drone, best of both worlds, just so not subtle when you get a move-on.

As others stated, starting with secondary cats is a great place.

I currently have the secondary cats removed and straight pipes in it's place. Resonators left alone. 35% sound increase, same AMG growl, healthier sounding. Love it.

Second cats and Res delete makes it too raspy. Sound level is great but gets too raspy IMO. Either res delete or second cat delete. If you want to do both, then an H pipe will help a lot.

This ^^

I have:
  • H-Pipe replacing secondary cats.
  • Straight pipes replacing resonator
I miss the throaty sound that you get with a straight pipe setup. If I could go back and do it again... I would have my exact same setup, but the H-pipe connector would be less that 1'' in diameter to give that throaty, deep tone. Right now my H-pipe is ~2'' in diameter....

I think when I do headers this current setup will be perfect.

Chuckled at work 'No Eardrums left"

So question do most or all headers for the c63 W204 platform sound the same for the most part?

just headers yes they sound the same. What changes the sound is if you have cats. If you have stock resonator or not. X pipe or h pipe or straight all the way to mufflers. Stock mufflers no mufflers or different mufflers. All these things change the sound. I have MBH headers, catless mids and x pipe to stock resonator and stock mufflers. I love the sound. It's very very loud when you want it to be. Cruising sound is stock. Everyone's opinion on noise is different, but the concensus on headers is very very loud but oo soo amazing. My opinion is don't mess with the cats the resonators just go straight to headers. That's what I did and don't regret it. You get the sound and the power. It really makes the car a beast.
