Having trouble hardwiring V1
So after many threads iv skimmed over I cant seem to get my V1 to power up via hardwiring to trunk fuse panel , the car is a 12 coupe and the wires have been run from the front dome light area to the trunk 12v cig fuse spot using a add a line tap. The wires used are brand new and have no breaks or damages. I know the cigarette lighter fuse works because if I plug in the radar directly in the socket it works , I'm stumped as iv tried everything .... also my ground is mounted directly into the main ground point by the fuse panel in the trunk so a ground should not be an issue . Does anyone have any other ideas Iv done this on my previous cars with no issues ( bmw and audi ) .

If your using a tap, does the cigarette lighter work when the tap is plugged into the panel?
Try the keyless go fuse for troubleshooting to see if it works. But u don't want to use that fuse slot permanently

YES the cigarette lighter does still work while its plugged in.. its odd would the gauge of wire maybe be an issue its standard 8g/6g wire which I'm assuming plenty enough for it . I don't have keyless go on my car unfortunately . Is there another location I could try on the panel that is 12v switched?

Why would you run a wire to the trunk. There are only like 84 threads about this. Just splice into the dome light. The existing fuse can handle the minimal extra load. It takes about 10min. Mine has been hooked up this way for 4yrs without any issue.

Yes it turns on when you unlock the car. It also times out just like the lights and shuts off automatically 10sec after locking. It is switched on a delay.

i see alright well that’s what I’ll end up doing then , I didn’t want to leave it wired there just Incase it doesn’t shut off and drains the batt.

I ran cables to the trunk. I prefer not to tap into wires unless I can solder it. I had a tap that eventually cut the wire in half. It's reversible and easy to use a fuse tap. make sure you are using an RJ11 cable. some phone cables won't work. did you try to use the standard pigtail provided cable provided by V1? I would just bring the V1 to the trunk itself (hardwire box to the V1 unit) and see if it powers up. If not, then I'm not sure what it could be, but if the stock V1 cable works, then you have eliminated the problem. I doubt it's the fuse tap (maybe check the fuses you are using?).

You’re gonna have to tap into the cig lighter wiring in the center console. That’s what I did and it switches on and off with the ignition. No delay with the interior lighting, that’s silly. I can only imagine how annoying that is when you open and close the car door when the engine isn’t running.

I tucked the wire in the headliner, behind the A pillar, then down behind the glove box and spliced directly into the cigarette lighter wires. I cant stand having wires hanging!

Unfortunately FL cars do not have a socket in the glove box

Do the FL coupes not have the fusebox on the end of the drivers side of the dash, I just went across the headliner to there, super easy fusetap and done in my 13.

I use this
http://www.valentine1.com/savvy/
and run the wire up the "a" pillar. You can tuck the "box" under the kick panel.
And you can add a BT transmitter and use the pretty decent app to get more info than the stock V1 display.

yeah it's pricier than splicing into the wiring harness but hey it is a C63.

This seemed like the easiest route but I don' thave a cig outlet in my glove box, must be a Canadian car thing?
