Mod Carbon front lip looks great. I had that lip on my 2010 and loved it. Car looks great happy modding.
Thanks Mort! After a spin around town and admiring my own car in the parking lot, I’m loving the lip. It is so choice. Just debating an oe cf trunk spoiler now. Not feeling the aggressive ones. After that, I think I’m done with cosmetics. Although, I’m curious about 507 wheels. I’m happy on 18s but wondering if it’s a wash weight wise going to 19” 507s and the heavier 19” tire.
Are FL 18” wheels any lighter given their spokes are “hollowed out”? They look good as the show a bit more rotor/caliper vs my solid spoke.
Haven't had much time for mods lately but am getting ready for a June 9 track day at Thunderhill. To that end I'm installing new oem endlinks to refresh the setup as I think I've got some clunking. More interesting is the simple strut brace I'm adding. It's the Ultra Racing unit. Got it on ebay from Malaysia and received it in about 6 days which was perfect. Currently undergoing a q&d paint job to match the car.
Looking awesome Crya.
How much clearance is there between the air boxes and the strut brace. Looks tight.
maybe 1/2 inch. There’s room. No rubbing or anything, even after installing the E85 kit wiring harness which sort of makes my airboxes sit up higher because I didn’t get the harness tucked in cleanly. I was tired. This week will be the first week on full E85. Looking forward to it. On stock tires at E55 traction from aggressive starts is a real issue. Seeing TC lights A LOT!
Small gift today. Crawled under her and bolted up another piece of Ultra Racing cross pieces.
The OE piece is surprisingly light and aluminum I believe. I’m just doing the whole kit piece by piece.
Oh and I forgot the most fun “mod” to date! I did my first track day last weekend. Three 20 minute sessions in the Novice group. Importantly, no one passed me lol. And, I was able to pass my little bro in his E46 M3. Torque out of a corner, let TC do it’s thing, and gave him full aural sensation of 6.2 liters of AMG. It was fun and learned a lot about my car. Pegged at 264 degrees oil temp the whole time. I’m hooked and I can’t afford to be. So, I bought the sticker. Good times.
Weistec Transmission Pan and East Coast Euro Mount
So today was some Maintenance. Got my transmission fluid changed finally and had the shop install a Weistec pan. The shop really liked that part. Said he’d add one to his CLS 63. Also installed the East Coast transmission mount. With my P30 suspension, she’s stiff! sorry for pics. You guys know what the parts look like.
Finally found a OE spoiler in the marketplace for a decent price. After literally hours of removing the adhesive from the new Cf unit and the leftovers from my trunk, it finally turned out. Small mod in Honor of #44 P1 today!!
I officially have a problem but it’s done now. Have I gone too far with the splitters? I already had the skirts so I really do like the look because it completes the lines. I guess I’m just torn with all the stick-on stuff. Front lip, skirts, now rear splitters. Is it to the point where it’s tacky? Or totally acceptable? Idk. But I think i like the setup.
Hey thanks. Admittedly I’m not breaking any new ground here but I love the process and enjoy doing some of these basic things. Following on others footsteps and whatnot.
and stay tuned. I scavenged some parts off Texas E63’s part out thread so that should be fun. And prepping for Laguna Seca HPDE on 8/6. I did do a pull with my brother standing next to the road with a db app and it registered 80Db. Probably not accurate but it was feet from the car so I’m encouraged!
OP, looks awesome. I love that lip. Did you get it from Mode? I've been to their website and I didn't see any parts for the PFL.
hey thanks! I did get the lip from Mode. I just happened to be shopping when they posted that they had some old stock for sale so I jumped on it. They don’t have any pfl on their site but you could always pm them and see if they have anything. For example, they had a clearance on a pfl CF 507 style hood already painted In white. I was super close to getting that as well but shipping. And painting would have been a hassle. Good luck!
Picked up this intake for a reasonable price from a fellow member. I was feeling mod-y so decided to give it a shot. I read the review. Anyways, this will be short and in NO WAY are the following comments related to the forum member. He's OK, just the ebay crap. It's garbage. I spent far too much time fiddling with it to get it to fit reasonably well, and wore out a grinder bit on my Dremmel in order to open up enough clearances for hood latching mechanisms to close and function properly. Whatever, it's in now and looks kinda shiny. If the hoses pop off, I'm selling it.
MIne lines up a tiny bit better but still not ideal. Notice the mount hole for the inlet panel? (top right of pic) Had to redrill the hole to help get it to align.
