Anyone own a GTR?
I am a younger C63 owner and I absolutely love my car especially with the edition 1 package. I've recently become curious about purchasing a older GTR probably around the same year as my C63 (2012), I'm a younger buyer so I cannot afford to keep both and would love to hear some input about the GTR in comparison if anyone would like to share.

That the same thing, I thought but had to ask, just in case he got the year wrong.

My brother has one, 14 I believe. Its cool and all if you enjoy $5k and up bills every time you take it in for something. Keep it in stock form and its awsome, alpha 7 it and it becomes undrivable, unless you enjoy idling it around town or having your head snapped back anytime you go near the pedal.

I’ve considered a GTR a couple of times but it comes down to the running costs really. It’s not that I can’t afford it, but I don’t want to, in the UK at least you may as well just drop your pants.
Servicing is around £1000 for a normal service each year, a chunk more for a major service. Tyres are around £1400 yearly, then there are a few reliability questions around the pre-2013 cars so I’ve ready which can slam you. You can have an extended warranty, but many cars are blacklisted by Nissan I hear due to having been tuned. There is also the challenge of finding one that hasn’t been tuned, and honestly the original 470hp or whatever isn’t THAT much today so you’ll certainly be looking at a tune and exhaust off the bat. All in all, you could probably supercharge your C63 for less overall than running a GTR for a couple of years.
I’m finding it real difficult to let go of my C63. I got a little stale with it, threw on some headers and a V7 Tune and I can’t imagine I want anything more powerful for the road. It’s a freaking blast.

Yes I was referring to the Nissan GTR, is it really that expensive to own compared to our AMG's? The real appeal is the ridiculous 0-60 and quarter mile times the car gets with just a tune and a couple bolt ons. My C63 is running a exhaust with no secondary cats and a Eurocharged V7 tune and it just doesn't seem nearly as fast as the GTR I test drove, the sound of the C63 is obviously better though haha. Does anyone own both by chance?

Fun cars to own and not too costly if you can turn a wrench. When I was looking I was finding them for around $30,000usd with bad transmissions. You can send the tranny off and get it fixed for $3k. There are DIY everywhere online for just about everything and parts costs aren't bad at all unless you're going 1000hp +. I wouldn't have one as my only mode of transportation though.

I owned one for about 3 years. The car is an absolute monster for the price. It is not difficult to make more power, and we have all seen when built properly. However, it is a car that cannot shake off its Nissan roots. The interior is cheap and ugly overall. It is an extremely clunky car. The transmission is not the best, and it always sounds like it is falling apart. Exhaust noise will never be pleasant to the ear--at least to me it was not. I enjoyed it for a while, but I would not buy another.
