Hey guys,
Just got my car a couple months ago and its ready for servicing. I wanted to know what people change when it comes to servicing the car at home. I searched the forums and found this:
- synthetic engine oil
- fleece oil filter
- air intake filter
- transmission fluid and filter
- inspect and clean your cabin air filter
Is this enough for servicing the car? I'm a DIY person, going to do everything at home.. Just wanna see what other people are doing.
Thanks !

I’d say it totally depends on if your car came with complete service history and what the current mileage is. If you have that info, you can figure out what comes next. If you don’t, and you’re like me in the mid-60,000 mileage range, I’d consider replacing all fluids and filters to start fresh. Check your engine mounts, your intake gaskets and pcv valve as well.
I couldn’t do the trans fluid or brake fluid at home but I did the oil and diff oil in the driveway no sweat.
Good luck!

Sadly that smell comes back in a couple months. It helps to spray it with any type of scent so you don't always have to change it.Originally Posted by L83City

What smell is this? Mine smells damp whenever I turn on the ventilation, AC or not. But the smell only lasts a few minutes.Originally Posted by L83City

My trunk smells damp too. Not from the blood of dead hookers. Not sure why it smells damp.Originally Posted by AMG3.2

I do oil changes, brakes, spark plugs, air filter, injectors, and O2 sensors at home. And then when I need more tools or a lift, I take the car to the auto shop on base. I let indy shops do the trans service.
