Cheapest tires - what could go wrong?
Talk to me guys, given that our C63s chew through tires, what's wrong with wrapping the wheels just in the cheapest tires, since they got to go every 10K miles or less anyway? I'm not tracking the car, not taking it out in the rain or snow.

An AMG is a performance car. So what the point in having an AMG if you can't afford tires for it? You must decide whether you want long tread life or grip. And buy tires accordingly.

It's funny because I am thinking the exact opposite. Once I burn through the tires I have, I want to try R compounds (Toyo R888R). I really want to experience what this car is like when it actually hooks.

the question is...do you really want cheap tires when you have a car with as much power as this and plan to turn the steering wheel around turns.
recipe for instant spin out if you ask me. better pray your traction control is ready.

Define cheap tires. I know most people on this forum have a hard on for Michelin Pilot Sports and don't get me wrong its a great tire but no way am i spending that much. I personally run Hankook V12s they are much cheaper then the Michelins but are still a good performing name brand tire vs Delinte, Mayrun, and Lionhart tires.
Just my 2 cents.

I ran V12s and now PS4S - NIght and Day difference. V12s break traction sooo easy. Never going back.

As long as the Weight & load ratings and speed ratings are fine, you'll be OK. I would get a 300TW or 400TW tire if you want to make them last but dont cheap out. Cheaping out never pays off.
This is a heavy and powerful car and unless you have A LOT of discipline, I bet you wont be able to let go of the throttle if you start a pull with another car and its a close race. Get proper tires.
To answer your question: A big crash is the worse that could happen. Tire blowout, loss of control... list goes on. People dont realize the importance of tires. Do you wear sandals when it snows outside? Would you walk with Ski boots in middle of summer?

I personally wouldn't trust a cheap tire on a car capable of doing 155 mph, not that you ever would go that fast. But I do understand the issue here.
When I was a lot younger, I would race my Mustang Cobra, so I would go thru a lot of rear tires. So instead of buying new tires, I would visit many used tire shops and buy rear tires that had like 6/32 tread left.
Save me a bunch of money in the long run. This might be a consideration.

Sorry, somewhat off topic here with my question: Which brand would you consider a better brand: Pirelli or Continental? I have heard that Pirelli makes really just mediocre tires charging premium tire prices, so I'm not really sure. What about Kumho?

Pirelli & Conti are in the same boat I'd say. Maybe Conti is a tad ahead. Hard to say as they make the P7 All-Season and the Trofeo.... Same for Benz... Makes the GLA250 and the AMG GTR... Depends on your buget. Conti seems to offer more tire for less.
Khumo, Hankook, Falken, Dunlop; same level I'd say.

Would I put cheap tyres (nasty chinese with limited grip and appaling wet handling) on my C63 - no way. Might be good if you enter burnout comps.

Even I am considering doing the same thing.....I am not able to put down power after getting V7 tune and has left me disappointed,so was considering getting Michelin or toyo to feel the real POWER!!.

In the same vein, why not use 87 octane?
****ty tires on high end performance cars is definitely a pet peeve of mine. Also, when buying second hand, a clear indicator that the owner is cheap ***.
