c63 coupe subwoofer options
I am struggling to figure out a good subwoofer solution for my c63 507 edition coupe. I have always had nice audio systems in all my cars, but the trunk shape of this particular car makes finding a box that will fit quite challenging. I would like to have two 12s, or 10s if i have to downsize, preferably in a ported box. The sloped trunk near the rear seats, that houses the satellite radio receiver is what is causing all the headache. It takes up a nice chunk of space, right where a box would go. I have seen the write-up where the guy cut out a box shape for his sub box, and moved the satellite radio receiver lower into the trunk with a few modifications. Is that basically my only option? That area is around 13.5" tall, 7" deep and 35-ish" wide if i remember correctly. Not exactly a lot of room to work with in terms of space for a box. What is every one else doing for aftermarket subwoofers? Open to ideas and suggestions. Thanks!

Or, you could save yourself some money and buy a STEALTH sub box. A company made a nice sub enclosure specifically for the w204 a while ago. Here's an ad on craigslist in my area to give you an idea: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/pts...673220220.html

Unfortunately the Stealth sub box for the W204 fits all models EXCEPT for AMG. The area behind that panel is a different shape on the AMG models.
You could do what this guy did. Looks like a fun project and not very hard. https://www.benzworld.org/forums/w16...enclosure.html

Ah yes, a ported/vented man like myself...good stuff. I installed 2x 10" Kicker Comp R's in two separate vented enclosures but I pulled them out within a few days because they didnt sound good. My advice here is "Quality over Quantity". Ever since I had a Kicker L7 in a vented box, it became evident you might not have to have two speakers....I confirmed this by putting a JL Audio 13W7 with a 500.1 in my CTS-V. If I had the dough I would put a JL 10W7 in my car....should be more than enough for what i want....good luck, let us know what you decide!

I'm one of the biggest car audio guys here but on this particular car, I'm trying to make it faster. So adding weight would be counterproductive. This is weird because I've personally installed high end systems in every car I've owned except this one. Anyways, how much bass are you looking for. If your keeping components stock I'd sugest 1 12 or 2 10's so it wont overpower/drown the mids and highs. If its just a little more you want, buy one of those self powered ones. Also watch the rattle and loosening of things if you go with some ground rumbling, window vibrating, car alarm setting off shyt like from the mid 90's and early 00's. Ah the good ol days.

Yeah the stealth boxes unfortunately do not fit the AMG trunks. I am pretty set on 12" woofers because I like the low end response they provide. I don't need a huge amount of sound, but I am accustomed to two 12s, because that is the setup I have ran in practically every vehicle I've owned. I have done twin 12" audiobahns in a bandpass box ( remember those setups? lol), twin 12" alpine type R's, twin kicker 12" comps, two 12" JL WXv2s (they blew and weren't very impressive), and twin JL 12W3v3s in my past three vehicles including my current second vehicle (Escalade). I picked up a JL 13W7 as well, but could not get it to fit in the trunk of the AMG obviously, and then ended up with two JL 12W3v3s in my Escalade instead. If i can fit 2 JL 12" subs, that would be ideal. Or maybe just one 12" in a large vented box. Maybe upgrade to a single JL 12W6 or W7 in a large vented box that runs the width of the trunk?
