The slack is around 1/2", maybe a bit more. Only enough to barely see the screw heads in the base that hold the plastic top of the antenna.

I am going to see if I can mess with it.

I did stop by my body guy and asked if he could swap it. Said he needs to drop the headliner and its a bit of a pain. He said it would be easier to paint it on the car. Said he'd do it for $100. Debating if I should just go that route. I am taking the car to have the front bumper sprayed and he would just do it at the same time. Not sure though.
