Well, finally sent out and got my blower case ported. I had 1320junkie performance do it as he has done tons of porting in whipples and other pieces such as intakes etc. Stay tuned as I slowly make progress on getting this turd back together for the season.

Have you heard of porting with a golf ball surface finish? I have seen a documentation a few years back which sowed quiet some increase in airflow.

Yeah, wondering why golf ***** have a dimples type surface. It must have to do with air-flow.

There's been R&D with dimple porting but im not sure who does it and ill bet its not cheap. More than likely there's very few instances where its probably needed or beneficial.

While we are on the subject, we should touch on dimple ports. The argument is that it works on golf ***** because it creates a boundary layer of air and helps it move the ball faster and farther. In a port, we are looking to create a situation where fuel stays off the wall of the port. So the dimples would (in theory) help create this boundary layer of air that would keep the fuel off the wall and in suspense and atomized.
First off, more than likely you have an engine with modern fuel injection if your reading this. Modern fuel injectors do an excellent job of atomizing the fuel, especially with todays engines where injector location is engineered very carefully for optimized delivery. So, the only true advantage I see in dimple ports is if you’re playing discus with the cylinder head and want to see how much farther you can throw it. If there was any real basis for dimple ports, you’d be seeing it in high-performance factory engines and professional level race engines and that’s simply not the case.
After nearly 300GB of simulations which have been running for months, I have not been able to improve the flow through the port using single dimples on their own, or covering the whole port in dimples, or even dimpling just the valve guide or valve stem itself. Putting dimples into an intake port does have some beneficial characteristics, but these are outweighed by the increase in skin friction. Probably not of any interest to most of you, but at least next time you see those awesome pictures of CNC dimpled intake ports on websites, you can rest easy knowing that they don't help performance, especially if the whole port is dimpled!

Yup, my point exactly. If it's been tested and no adopted already then it must not be beneficial.

itll be the same, its only porting to smooth airflow into the blower etc. It does not actually gain displacement.
it will however gain power with the case inlet and throttle bodies though allowing alot more air to enter it easier.

you going to do a dyno to see how much it picked up? I’d be interested as I’ve seen a few similar units on camaros and corvettes pick up a decent ~20whp

I will be for sure. My guess is I would net probably 30-40whp gain since i ported the inlet and did 82mm throttle bodies. Im also spraying meth pre blower as well. So my total guesstimate is 60-80whp plus since my old tune was junk we could possibly still have power on the table there also.

The Airplane comparison doesn’t make much sense.
You would not see it on airplanes. Because airplanes are more prone to skin friction drag because they are already designed with streamline in mind.
Golfballs are held back by pressure drag and that is where the pimples help.

For what it's worth the new Bilode has an inflatable dimple system in its rooftop air intake lol. I forgot what speed it is activated at.
Well today I had time to get my blower all assembled including the meth nozzle and my throttle body adapter plates. Tomorrow I'll get the intake cleaned up and get it slapped back on and mostly buttoned up. I still need to install the meth tank and pump and controller.
Also my new aluminum 1.5 gallon meth tank came in as well. The other plastic 2.5 gallon just barely fit in the space I had in the spare tire well and wasn't gonna mount neatly enough for me. So I ordered this new one
Also, had my shop helper sorting through my stainless bolt stash to get the right length for me to continue getting everything assembled.
Today I got the supercharger installed and some of the plumbing done. I also ordered whipple badges and put them on since weistec doesn't supply them or install them. Few more things to button up yet
I also ordered everything for my titanium 3.5 inch intakes, hopefully it'll be here soon as I'm getting excited to get this thing going and retuned.
Today I got the throttle bodies mounted on the car to the adapters. I had to grind out a small piece of webbing on the left hand TB to clear the bypass valve but all in all it went smooth.
My mini vacuum block from damond motorsports also came in, this thing is really nice quality and great size but it's expensive at 50 bucks. I got it mounted and ran my hitemp air line and cover it in dei heat shrouding. This will serve for the vac/boost source for the meth controller, and also for a temporary mechanical boost gauge and in the future for a pressure transducer for standalone.
Lastly, the titanium showed up for my intakes. Waiting on filters and couplers still but plan is to get them made Easter weekend.
Well I picked up the finished intakes today. The air filters were back ordered but they'll be here next Thursday. I also finished mounting the meth pump and tank in the trunk. Just waiting on a few things to wire everything up.

I just want to document everything because besides the little help I've gotten from a few in this community, there's not many that give out pointers or path to positive 1/4 mile ET or dyno numbers etc. And alot of scam artists within the mercedes performance world. Also I have to figure this out mostly for the first time and want to put it out there for anyone that wants to do it themselves or know what these cars are capable of going the route I'm going.
