2016 GTs, 2014 C63 AMG and 2014 C350 Sport (wife's car, she thinks it's an AMG - shhhhhh)
Odd Question: W204 C63 AMG vs W204 C300
Ok so I'll make this simple... I own the C63 AMG. I bought my wife a 2015 W205 C300.
You can probably see where this is headed... she is not a heavy footed gal but she REALLY likes my car better than hers. I don't think it's the engine either... she just says it feels more solid. AND she likes the interior layout tons better than the 205 (and I have to agree with her... HK better than Burmester, center console shifter better than whatever the heck that goofy turn signal column shifter is, media manager better situated than the 'let's stick an iPad here thing', etc...)
So, now on to my question: Has anyone driven a W204 C series Non-AMG? I have not. I'm wondering how a 2014 C300 Sport would feel to her (I know for a fact the HP difference won't be felt). How about ride and feel? Are they significantly better than the 205s in terms of ride feel?

I know that I hated the w204 C250s they gave me as a loaner car. I felt like the body control was all wrong. To me, a Honda Accord rode better. The C250 was all bouncy and not at all what I expected from mercedes. Not sure what suspension the car had. Maybe try to find one and just go for a drive they are everywhere, so it shouldnt be hard.

2010 C300 4MATIC........ 2011 C63 AMG.............. 2015 CLS400 4MATIC.....
W205's runflats ruin the ride a lot.
I daily the w204 (2010) c300. Much different than c63 obviously, but if your area has winter you'll know 4matic is a must.
If you get the sport package, it comes with sport suspension and is lower, firmer, etc. A pretty solid autocross car tbh, with near 50/50 weight distribution and really good all-round handling.
I wouldn't go for the luxury but that's preference I guess. Smoother ride but you lose the aero and suspension, interior, etc.
2012+ engines are direct injection and have more horsepower. They are 3.5L. They are out of the factory with 248 horsepower, but a simple eurocharged tune will get it up to 330 hp on 91 octane. Plenty for a daily, especially with 4matic.
They're also pretty reliable. Except c250.
C250 RWD is coupe/sedan, and C350 AWD is coupe. C300 is AWD sedan. C300 and C350 share engine (c350 has higher stock up) C250 has an unreliable 4 cylinder. Don't buy it. It's slow too lol.
Overall very good quality.

2020 AMG GTC Coupe & 2018 Macan Turbo
Don't buy it. Too many nanny controls anymore and the car itself is dumbed down. It's strickly a 'commuter car'. You start, you gas, you go, repeat as necessary. At this late a date I might opt for another AMG. If you need the room, get a 09-11 ML63 AMG, fix it up and warranty it. You'll save money in the long run. Then there's the C63 AMG W204 version (NA engine!; no turbos). If it doesn't have an alcantara steering wheel, it has an open diff. So, if you go shopping, look at the steering wheels. Or...you could always upgrade the diff. HP would be at 451 instead of 481.

I think I'll test drive a 2014 C300 Sport just to see how it compares to the AMG in terms of road feel then make the call. If it feels more like her last car (328i), then it may be the best answer... Can pick one up with less than 40,000 miles for under $20K.

'13 C63 AMG P31
I've had a couple of loaner C250's and C300's...very easy to tell / feel the difference. Now, nothing wrong with them on their own, but comparing them to the C63, it's huge. The overall feel is a bit more towards comfort and relaxing, taking your time when driving vibe. While I didn't hate driving them, they are not a car I would recommend between those choices.
When I returned the loaner C300 one time, the service tech asked "How was it driving". I had to tell him it was, alright, really lacking compared to what I usually drive. The tech then asked what car I had in for service? After I mentioned C63 AMG...he went silent and said "oh I know which one is yours, sorry I asked about the C300" lol.
His / Hers combo would sick. Definitely go that route if you can. Then you guys could rev at each other and flirt on the road!

I had a W204 C300 before I got my C63. My wife drives a GLC300, basically the same thing as a W205 C300. I would trade it for my W204 in a heartbeat. Sure the 205 has a nice interior, and a few more drive modes, but I dislike the engine and steering when compared to my old 204. Also not a fan of the gear selector, or the base model sound system.
That being said, a C300 vs C63 is night and day. Maybe look at getting her a 2014 C350 as a middle ground?

As mentioned C300-C350 same engine MY12+
330Hp is not bad especially if she doesn't care about power.
As with all, make sure you get the options you want (ex. Lighting package)
This is an interesting example, I wouldn't buy it but I wanted to mention the sports interior package as well which may interest you/her. Obviously coupe seats will look cooler but these are nice as well.

The part that throws me off with this one is the tow hook mod - everything else was pretty tasteful-ish but that just sank the ship lol.
Edit: just saw the AMG badge, RIP

Had W205 C300 for several weeks over the years (rentals), and they were good cars, but softer and less sport-sedan feeling than the W204 in general.
I agree with Chris regarding the w204 C250, I hated it when I had it for a few days, was very disappointed. On the other hand, I drove a W204 C350 4Matic with sport package and I enjoyed it. The better engine/transmission combo and different suspension in the C350 had a completely different and way more fun to drive feel.
If she wants a W204, and you're not going for a C63, I would consider a C350.
