507 Edition on CarMax
Update: so I had it transferred from SC to VA and was super excited to step into a 507 in spite of being very happy with my stock AMG ( and mrs bones was pretty jacked about getting my hand-me- down ).
i wound up passing on it in spite of the apparently great price (2014 in obsidian black with 21k miles for under $45k).
Oddly i couldnt get past the lack of illuminated doors sills. I assumed they were standard. Having them on mine, the 507 looked chinsy without them. But the real deal breaker was the condition of the drivers seat and arm rest. The arm rest had a crack in it and the leather on the seat was worn and wrinkled like cars with 50,000+ miles on them. Anyone else find that strange for a car with such low miles? My Spidey Sense triggered. I don’t suspect an odometer rollback because the records check out - both Carfax and the dealer history. Maybe it was a track car? So low but hard miles? My car has 27,000 miles and the drivers seat and arm rest look like they did the day the car was delivered.
in any event, I went back tonight to pick up a C350 for Mrs bones and it was gone already. Someone from Idaho is having it transferred. I think I’m the second person to pass on this car. I hope he sees this before spending the $700 to ship it.

I think I test drove that same car if it was in Northern Cali. It was a black on black 2014 507 coupe with 21K miles going for 45K. If it was the same car, I too got a strange feeling about the car. Came close but did not pull the trigger on it. Car performed well in the test drive but I couldn't get beyond some of the wear on the exterior, the fact that one of the hood heat extractor meshes was smashed, and that the CarMax rep could not find a second key, any manuals, or the wheel locks. I guess I just want a car that was cared for by the previous owner. And the car was not cleaned either.
I did end up buying a super clean 2014 C63 coupe with 21K miles. This one looked like the owner never drove it in the rain, the interior and engine bay are immaculate. And yes the exterior has some small rock chips and the paint has scratches, but I just got the feeling this car was cared for by the previous owner.

Wow so that is at least 3 people to pass up on it... glad I am not alone. Maybe CarMax is just making good money moving it around the country - soon it will have made a complete circle around the US

Lighted door sills were are a dealer-installed option. You can go get them put in at most dealers or buy the parts and do it yourself )
