Camshaft adjuster slapping noise
I had to take out the cam adjusters to do the lifters.
Is this the sound of a cam adjuster failing or maybe a botched install of the cam adjuster?
what oil are you running? i'd recommend Motul Xcess 8100 5w-30 with LiquiMoly MoS2 if you aren't and see if that helps. some brands of oil cause the M156 to run louder and adjusters to become noiser than others.

i also never had this noise before I got the lifters and headbolts changed . Could removing the adjuster somehow have damaged it ? I put in new cam bolts to
is it possible to unplug the cam adjuster and stop it from working to diagnose or will it throw a code / go into limp mode

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Perhaps this left exhaust cam is causing my low rpm misfire?
At idle, the right intake is 28.1', left intake is 27.6' (spec26 to 30)
Right Exhaust is -14', Left exhaust is -15.6 (spec -13 to -17)
Older mercs could have the cam position sensor disconnected and it would not engage the cam adjuster. Just wondering I disconnected the intake cam position sensors and/or the exhaust cam position sensors if the car would still drive?

Sound starts when engine go in work temp, like 80 degreese
I believe is the oil control rings on the cam adjuster spocket.
I found mine broken.
replacing them in a few days, this should allow the cams to build pressure to adjust the timing.
i also had misfire at low rpm.
