Hey guys.

Did anyone get results on the tasos billet camshaft? He showed in his video that the SLS or Black series lifters are a very good idea to use. Unless you can get stockers coated with something better. The result he showed was on a high mileage car and another car was supercharged. The high mileage car was a low dynoing car due to engine wear. On the supercharged car, i don't recall a number. These cams look quite a bit more aggressive than the SLS cams, so it should cause even the SLS to pick up power.

He posted a new video a few weeks ago with his "final" version of the billet cams. Personally I don't like that they sound like stock cams, if I'm spending that much I'd want some cams that have a nice lope to them. Money better well spent on a twin-screw supercharger kit.

Supposedly these European based "Shook" cams have the slobbering lope you seek:

Sounds like stock cams ? I think the “shook” cam is an actual camera and they record people’s shocked response to how loud the car is

deadlyvt,

After reviewing the "shook" cam footage again, I think your right. I think it was about a camera setup designed to catch the onlookers as they revved the engine on some modified C63's I had thought it was some cam over in Europe that was getting the business done, that they knew about but we didn't.

On another note. I heard it mentioned kinda late in the game that some of the tuners know how to tune and setup the VVT.

PTG(Premier Tuning Group)/kirklandhans/steve has made some cams for the M156. They are around $6kusd i believe. No dyno graphs as of yet.

they didn't design or manufacture them...they're just selling them as theirs. they're produced by an unknown company and were available before the PTG was ever created.

That 45rwhp is awesome. The torque is better from 2200 to the highest rpm.

Yeah, I think for lots of sets to sell, aftermarket cams for this platform need to show improvement in power from simply just dropping them in and then more gains, once tuned. All of the associated install costs are off-putting for most M156 owners and then having to roll the dice on a custom cam tune is a bit meh and only for the die hard fans...of which how many are really out there for this platform now?
great input. Did you run your car at all without tuning? Who tuned it? Do you know what they adjusted?

Found this pic from one of the Tasos billet camshaft videos showing clearance of an intake cam. He wasn't trying to illustrate the clearance, but you can see it with your own eyes that at certain lifts above stock it will be an issue.

Harder as in billet steel? - yes it wears faster
But! with more duration at top lift you get a bigger radius on the nose, this is less stressful on the buckets.

Let's just call them "lifters" as in any other engine. So up until several months ago, I thought the lifters were the "wear item" in the C63, and replacing with the black series coated lifters would prevent this. In the Tazos videos he used a steel file to demo the wear. The cam is much softer than the lifter. He was easily able to file the camshaft, but could barely put a scratch on the lifter.

The anti friction coating on the SLS lifters allows the cam to be subject to less friction and thus you wont' have lobe wear. That's how i look at it now. It was clear to see on that demo that the lifter is extremely hard, but the cam in comparison is very soft.

Hello to all members here.

unfortunately I cant reply all messages here, lot of them.

We are done with testing of our camshafts. It was important to us to have them tested hardly here in our environment and driving behavior.

What we can say from perspective of "engineering" you are not able to have one camshaft that will work on NA CS and TC equally good.

With our Camshafts we had 0 wear on the lifters and obv. on the billet cams too which was/is one of the most important factors to us.

We will announce soon a pre sale with an special offer to the first 20 kits that we plan to offer to the world wide public we are just waiting to have a confirmed lead time.

So anti friction coating is the solution?

10 C six trizzle
high duration or high lift isn't the killer it's the ramp rate that may come with it.

Being that you’ll offer this “world wide”, which steps can we take to make sure the window isn’t missed. Will you make an announcement here first?

Will these be ideal for anyone looking to go with FI later on?

Those cams look just like the Billet 156 cams we've been making for multiple customers since 2010.
The gloss black finish is from the Pulse Ion Nitriding process we have done to them, after they're finished.
We've moved beyond that, in the last few years. Now we use tool steel, and have the cams thru-hardened to 59hrc hardness.

If there would be enough interest in a group buy, we could run a batch of 10 sets of cam cores, and offer multiple profiles for whatever application you plan on running.

what’s the price you were thinking??
if the price is right I will get 2-3 sets
one for my sc cl63 and another for my na e63 and maybe if they are really aggressive I’ll purchase them for my sl63.

I'm pricing the material right now. The tool steel we use has gone way up in price, in the last 2 years.
I think they will be around $4,500 a set.
Since they're thru-hardened, we can rough the cores in with an over sized lobe shape, and grind them into any profile you want.

If the price is right, you’ll probably get 50 orders from here alone.

With that said, I don’t think that estimated price is going to be wildly popular.

Your best bet, is to find a company that will regrind your stock cams.
You aren't going to find a set of gundrilled billet tool steel cams for $3k. If you can, please share it with everyone here, because that would be one hell of a deal.
