edition 507 brake squeal
Hey guys, just hit 40k, and running stronger than ever!
Getting a ton of brake squeal / noise when coming to stops in stop-and-go / city roads.
No noise when braking hard or from higher speeds like hwy.
I read up on brake indicators, but I dont see any lights on my dash.
Brakes have never been changed....but visually I can see decent pad left, and rotors in good condition.
Lots of brake dust on the rims though (the matte black is a pain to keep clean).
Any tips to troubleshoot further?
Or is it time to bite the bullet and replace all pads and rotors?
(stopping power / brake pedal feels somewhat reduced, which is why I said this)
Thanks all!

I have been chasing my brake squeal om my rear right. After OEM and 2 other brand pads, grease on the backside of pads etc, same squeal.....
Also tried disconnecting the wear indicator with no success.
Good luck and report back if you find a solution.

I wash my car a lot and typically clean the brakes really well and never have any squeal all OEM rotors and pads, but they are less than 5k miles on them. I do tend to find that as they age and get a bit of a lip the lip can cause a bit of a squeal and removing that lip on the rotor that is squealing will typically take care of the issue for a while anyway.

It is the nature of big brakes.. they are made to stop the car fast- not by slowing the car down going thru a shopping mall parking lot etc etc... saying that, my 507's brakes do not squeak at all but if they do I'll ignore it. When i wash the wheels,i wash the inside of the wheel and also wash throughout the brake caliper with a handy fine soft narrow brush that gets all brake dust out of there.

Thanks for the input guys, will update after service
Also wanted to get a professional detail done, does anyone know if they remove tires and clean wheel wells and calipers as well?

They will if you pay to have it done, a detail can vary from a few hundred for a good wash vacuum and wax to a few thousand for a multistage paint correction, they will do what you want if you are willing to pay for it.

Cant remember the price, this was 2 years back, but somewhere in the 1.2-1.5k USD range.
