Who is running SLS Black Series Lifters
Just curious, lots of talk of them curious who has actually spent the extra and put them in and if so how many miles, how have they held up?
Thinking of doing it, have found them for undef 1200 vs 700 ish for the standard M159 sls lifters.

Ya they do seem all over the place, watching Tasos videos, some are great at relatively high miles some seem to wear very early, maybe how the car is driven (lots of cold starts short trips vs putting on miles), maybe oil used, maybe some cams are not hardened as well.

Been a while, but recall a video w/ Tasos taking a file to both cam and lifter with the cam being a far softer material. Basic conclusion I drew(and could be wrong) was replace the lifters for the sake of the cams. When I did my HBs, cams had some wear but looked decent so opted for just standard lifters to get some more time out of the cams (at 96K miles and about 5K more per year, opted for best 'value'), but if I were to replace the cams as well(oem or not), would opt for the SLS.

The cams are cast so they don’t wear evenly and leave imperfections. Bigger issue at hand though is the variable in what people use for oil weight and the change interval that is recommended by Mercedes. My opinion of course like everyone else’s as I don’t have data from every M156 out in the world. Also the doesn’t sound like OP isn’t looking for big HP per se.

Yes thinking more about reliability at stock HP levels, VRP will do an OEM grind, so was thinking about SLS Black series lifters and the VRP cams that are OEM rebuilt welded and hardened more than factory they claim, but also holding out to see the deal on Tasos' billet cams.

I had the SLS ones installed with the phosphate coating, but not the Black Series ones.
Just wasn't worth the additional cost to me.

In america people like to exceed the 10,000 mile oil change intervals, sometimes doubling them. The 10k mi service interval is for light duty. If more m156 owners did 3-5k mi oil changes I doubt we would see the cam and lifter wear issues, or if they used higher quality oils.
