I love how it looks from the back, it looks super fat. I drove passed and E92 M3 over the weekend, a car I always thought looked great, and mine made it look like a ***** cat.

I agree. I’m still so happy with how factory it’s looks but at the same time being a brute.

I didn’t declare as I have received decent some discounts on my build through contacts, which wouldn’t be applicable to others paying full retail. The shop is over here in the UK which might not relate cost wise to other parts of the globe. I can’t give you a rough estimate in GBP, which would be to budget for £4,000 plus the cost of the fender kit, wheels, suspension if you need and alignment.

Here are some more photos mid-build which some may find interesting.

What I didn’t mention before was that the shop I worked with will now produce a wide fender kit for the C204 coupe. My car was the development car to perfect the look, and FRP fenders can now be purchased for the coupe based upon my car.

There is nothing on the market in this style for the coupe, only HMS which has a different look altogether, and this kit is considerably cheaper but manufactured just as good in my opinion.

I’m not the vendor for this kit, it is the shop, Golding Barn Garage over here in Sussex, UK. I am sure they will be willing to ship to my international comrades so, if you’re interested give them a shout at info@goldingbarngroup.com and mention that Jason sent you; they’ll look after you.

The price they are retailing these at is £750 including our UK VAT. This works out at roughly $960 plus shipping and import fees.

I think from the pictures it looks like a good job, The moshammer kit is the best looking one off the shelf but lacks that oem finish on the tail end towards the bumper.

I think if the rear bumper part was like below the kit would be perfect. I think you overpaid quite alot too as that is the price mine is costing and it will be full metal. Id be worried down the line about cracking where its been blended into the car and using two different materials.

Each to their own regards the shape. I didn’t pay the amount stated, that was my estimate but is over here at least the going rate for such work. Metal is in fact a little
more, at least in my local area. Great if you can get it cheaper and the shop is any good.

I am from the UK, if you payed anywhere near 4k and they aint metal fabricated I think you paid too much, Mine is that price for the rear, full metal done at one of the best bodyshops in the UK which always wins awards for best paint and fabrication at VW/Audi/Mercedes/BMW and Jap shows.

Over time they will flex and the paint will crack with them being fibreglass molded into metal, same will happen on the bumper and sideskirt too if they are not plastic welded. Ive built and know numerous show cars and this is the case when smoothing two different materials together.

I’m really happy. I did have concern about cracking but was assured that the method used wouldn’t allow that. If it does I’ll have recourse but from what I’ve seen in the quality of finish on mine and other builds they have going I’m not worried. The focus is now on fitting the supercharger I’ve been planning a while and I’ll be doing this myself over Winter/Spring.

I think you may be disappointed with the quality of work for the price you are paying if it’s dirt cheap, I wouldn’t surmise that you could get a proper full metal wide body for under £3k. What I found when hunting for a shop was that there is a huge delta in price dependent on region. For example up in the grim old north, it was much cheaper but I wasn’t prepared to drop the car 200miles away and leave for 3-6mths so it was an exercise of both finding quality, price and convenience. I’m sure you have experience and if you have friends in the trade or you are in it yourself to give you the discounts you say for a top quality job that’s very fortunate for you. I clearly have too much money laying around to spend on things like this and all of the other work I’ve had done, so I’m spending it .

With 315 tyres, i will be ready for all year action now with my ESS supercharger all fully run in!

Rear 19x11 ET25. I believe I could have gotten away with ET20 though.

I love the wheels but if I change to fully forged I’d go for 11.5 in the rear ET30 and aim for a 315/325 tyre perhaps. At the moment I am on 295 due to availability of 305 at the time but even so, traction is night and day vs OE setup.

it looks great ....... by the way the rims I run in the rears to get a 345 to fit are 19x11 Et 30..... just a slight bit of rubbing on the Black series fender liner, but no metal........

Super interesting to see the different setups people run. I was recommended to run 19x10 ET14 in the rears but I want to be able to run atleast 305-325. So I’ve been doing some measurements of my own to figure out the perfect ET for 11-11.5 where no rubbing would be involved and its been a little hectic lol

you looked to be lowered - correct ? not sure the 345's would work then but I had lot's of room with the 325's that I run as a DD setup.

Yes chaps, I am lowered: I’d have to be very creative with offset to get a 345 in there. I think a 325 is achievable down the line but at the moment, as a street car I like the setup although when rear tyres are done I’ll be going 305 on current rim.

Realistically not a lot will be happening to this thing as over the Winter (which so far in the UK is very wet) as it is garaged, maybe a supercharger, who knows. I did however decide to test if the popular side skirt extensions fit, and they do remarkably. Something to consider if you do your own, I quite like them. They flare out at the rear which to my eyes looks odd on a standard body as they make the skinny rear end stand out, but here they flow well and if anything make the rear look wider still.

So I’m kind of just posting this because I’m bored, I’ve been for my hour permitted exercise outdoors, I’ve been to my home gym, I’ve played Call of Duty, I’ve cleaned the garage out...you see where I’m going. Thank you Corona Virus!

This is sort of a conclusion to my build, and the reason for the wide body. It’s now supercharged with the ESS kit and I am so glad I wide bodied it, because I imagine it’s nowhere near as manageable without one. It’s able to, somewhat make full use of the circa 700hp/600whp output along with a decent diff and frankly the acceleration of this thing is shocking.

To top it off I had BS good vents installed. This is my stock hood, pressed and fitted with the inserts plus underside water channels.

I’m incredibly happy with the way the car, as a package, handles and performs. Every modification works hand it hand. A project is never done though so I’m sure there will be more things to come over the many years I plan to keep it. Immediately I suppose is a little de-chrome, then enjoy it a while when we’re aloud out again.

It depends on your chosen shop, whether you want to go custom metal, or used a kit like the one made from my car, HPC if pre-FL or HMS Tuning. With those you’ll need to factor top the cost of the kit, plus wheels.

I wouldn’t even bother fitting a charger without this. My car hooks incredibly well considering the power but it is still a 700hp motor driving the rear wheels, so it wants to break free. I can’t imagine how useless it might feel without wider fenders, or at least drag radials/high performance track tyres. Some guys have been inventive and have managed 285/295 with carefully selected custom offset 10” wheels on standard body, so that’s another option.

I paid about $7k Canadian for my HMS flair kit and install. The install included painting my calipers and installing my CF diffuser. If I remember correctly the install was $3k plus 15% tax.
