My rear wide body is nearing completion so I thought I’d share some photographs. This is a custom conversion based upon the HPC Dynamics wide fender kit for the sedan. I personally preferred the lines of this and its more-OE appearance vs the HMS kit but the problem being there was no coupe option. I therefore decided to make my own, purchased the HPC kit and stitched it together to make a fender for the coupe. This created a template to build my own custom fenders, which I commissioned a shop to carry out. Noticing a little gap in the market, they have taken a mould of my fenders and will be offering a kit for sale for the coupe soon (based in UK although I’m sure they’ll ship internationally).
Wheels are now 11” comfortably with probably room for 12”
if I wanted. Tire size is up 5cm on stock.
Anyway, all it needs is paint really and it is ready.
Very Nice ! you should be able to get more tire in there if you want.... I like that it's not "seamed" the way the HMS setup is done..... or at least they way I did... expecially on white it'll flow better and look OME.

congrats. What are you going to do for rims ?
Thanks man.
I think so, but I needed to grab a set of wheels to get it on the floor, set up and looking right. I think I’ll keep the wheels on it now (second pic from last) as they seem to fit ok but I will go HRE perhaps down the road. I do like the style on there now.
It was a definite requirement of mine to have this looking seamless and factory. To those who know it’s a wide body C63, to those who don’t they’ll just suppose it’s how it is supposed to look, then be confused when they see another and it looks narrow. Looks aside mind the main drive here was to get more meat on the road before supercharging.
I went 19 x 11 initially with the 325's and then had 19x11.5 's done with a 28 and they're fitting 345's now..... like you I'm trying to reduce wheel spin..
Look forward to seeing it all finished up...
Your car was the inspiration really, I was following a while back whilst you were having the work done. It looks great, such an awesome build.
I’ll have a proper look at it when I get it back in a couple of days but from what I’ve seen I do think I could get a 325 in there, perhaps larger playing with offsets and slightly wider wheels. How’s your traction now? Must be night and day. I was so sick of how easily it broke out before, and I just made it worse when I put headers on it.
I’ll update here with the finished article soon :-)
the LSD made a big difference but the 345's now almost minimized spin on 2nd-3rd as long as it's straight and good pavement...
325's are likely a better DD ( limited to nice weather) tire - I kept my other rims/tires for that purpose..... the 345's are track specific once I get it sorted out.
look forward to seeing her finished up..... to test the optimal rear setup you may want to use spacers ... I did a set of 30mm with the oem rims that gave me a sense of what would fit...be sure to check it weighted and none......the 345's are scary close to the fender unweighted....

This is a crazy cool project man. I am subscribing just to see how everything turns out.
With a truly custom kit like this the car needs some custom forged wheels like the HRE's you mentioned. That would complete the car's aesthetics and get it the recognition and respect it will deserve once completed. If you keep the current wheels on it now it's like running a marathon and stopping just meters away from the finish line.

Thanks man, appreciated. I agree, it needs something special, but there was no way I was taking it home with the factory wheels fitted, they look like bicycle wheels now. The wheels I have now were at a great price and will double as track wheels I’m sure. I like HRE but also Vossen Forged look like a good bet. We’ll see, I need to get it home first, might even fit a supercharger myself over the Winter before anything else.

Past few weeks I’ve been researching widebody builds endlessly. I’m trying to decide if I want a pre facelift or FL c63 to start my build. Awesome to see people are still having it done
Hey. So it’s home and here are some rushed shots in the rain, which doesn’t look to let up for a week or so. Better pictures would do it justice but until then, here it is...
Looks awesome! I might have missed it, but what did you end up using for fender liners? The BS ones?
I'm actually glad they made this for sedans, as the door section makes the conversion tricky otherwise. Didn't even know this option existed, as I always hear about the HMS ones.

Yes, BS liners but they needed some work to work with these fenders.
