Stage 3 Weistec - “surging/chugging” issue
my tuner says this issue is caused by the standard air boxes:
This is the stock air box issue
Basically there is a vacuum build up in between the air box and the supercharger, the recirculating valve which dumps boost, gets caught up in this vacuum issue and doesn’t open as it should
anyone else had this issue and did putting aftermarket airboxes in fix it?
cheers
the tuner is one of the best C63 tuners in the country so I don’t think it’s the tune.

Place a vacuum gauge in the duct between the filter & throttle plate - check the surge relates to the vacuum.
FWIW, I am very sceptical about the air-boxes creating the issue - if that was the case the engine would starve terribly at high rpm & run extremely rich. A reading of the MAF sensors will indicate the limit of the air boxes.
My guess (& it can only be a guess without data) is that there is either something wrong with the bypass / bypass-actuator, or more likely, a calibration (tune) anomaly. Even "the best C63 tuners in the country" sometimes miss a field or jump to a conclusion.
My recommendation is to get some facts/data ... at this stage it appears you are relying on opinion. HPTuners MPVI2 is a good investment.

My shop suggested is was a small intake manifold leak that wasn't large enough to through any codes.
It's annoying but I'm living with it a while to see if it changes.
Short ram intakes work best with big 6in filters but then heat soak becomes a issue
End result is awesome if you can get the tune perfected

Contact VCM Performance www.vcmperformance.com.au (sales@vcmsuite.com.au).
From what I am told, they are something like Au$150 for a pair. (~US$110).

They definitely have them in stock & for sale. Just called & confirmed. $150 +GST for a pair.
If in doubt, email mario@vcmsuite.com.au

essentially the computer is seeing something different than actual and its taking over control because it's reference point does not match actual.
just because someone owns a shop doesn't make him a tuner. just because someone has flashed a map, doesn't make him a tuner. just because someone owns software capable of tuning, doesn't make him a tuner. tuning is an art and skill as is carpentry is at the highest levels. go watch an episode of This Old House, and tell me you can do better than him.

A duct could be relatively easily made by 3D printing a mould & making in silicon... I would do it if there was enough interest.
As stated in my original post mine could have made more power but wasn’t pushed as has standard gearbox still, did you miss that part?
Also, he’s the guy who tunes most of the fastest C63s in Australia (multiple in the 9 second bracket).
