O2 Sensor Drive Cycle Help

Hi Everyone! This is my first post after lurking for some time. I purchased my 2012 C63 P31 about a month ago and have been unable to smog my vehicle (CA) due to O2 sensor "Not Ready".

I have looked through and completed a few generic drive cycles online along with driving over 800 miles but I am reaching my wits end as this vehicle needs to be registered soon.

If anyone knows of a specific drive cycle that needs to be completed I would greatly appreciate the help!

Thanks!

sensor 1 or sensor 2? bank 1 or bank 2?

i would assume with this error message it is referring to your rear sensors. i'm curious to think that this car has a tuned ECU flash. which has set rear sensors as not ready as to not throw a MIL.

Hi Hachiroku. Thanks for the quick reply.

I was also thinking it would be the Bank 2 sensors post cat but there is nothing on the smog print out that indicates which is not working. The dealer who had the car previously did not know if the car had a tune or not.

Are there any ways to determine whether the car has a tune outside of a pull against a stock c63 and taking to a dealership?

ya...do you happen to know who the previous owner of your vehicle is? i'm almost certain it has a tune file as its stating Not Ready without a check engine light, a dealership wouldn't necessarily be qualified to identify a tuned ECU. where did you purchase your car from? a dealer or private party? if its through a dealer(Manufacture or private used car sales) it is their responsibility by law at least in California that SMOG be completed by them. any issues will need to be resolved by the dealer before the car can be sold.

I unfortunately do not know the previous owner but I did purchase the car from a used car dealership in Texas and had the car shipped over. Would the dealership in Texas still be liable for California SMOG?

One solution (which is probably cost neutral if you have to take it to the stealership for diagnosis and re-flash) would be to take advantage of Eurocharged's Black Friday sale and purchase a handheld and a tune (which I think includes the stock tune). You could flash the new tune, then re-flash back to stock and see if the problem is solved. With the added benefit of being able to re-install the V7 tune after the test is done and you pass.

That would work (theoretically) I think.

Edit: Here is the link for the sale -- https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...tarts-now.html

i believe there is a thread where someone was looking to flash their ECU back to factory. don't recall the outcome of this, but, one thing to know about Texas is they do not have to smog their vehicles. another thing to mention is, with any DimSport flashed ECU, the handheld will be the only place you will find the factory file once flashed.

i would reach out to a few shops in Texas with your VIN number in hopes of identifying the previous owner. more than likely he has an unusable DimSport handheld that he'll be willing to give or sell to you.

I just got off the phone with Eurocharged and purchased a v7 tune and MyGenius which they also confirmed would be able to flash my car back to stock in the instance that there is a different tune on it!

Back to Original OEM stock? Or back to what's on it today?

Also, since there has been some back & forth on what their actual Black Friday price is, what did they charge you?

Back to factory stock settings so basically OEM. I made sure to ask that it would clear what garbage is on it currently.

I ended up paying 830+20 shipping out to California. A little confusion because the rep told me 830$ shipped and when I spoke to sales it was 850$ but it’s no biggie.
