Aftermarket Amplifier

Anyone here running an aftermarket amplifier? I believe mine is about to go out in my 09, since my aux only plays on one side of the car depending on the angle I hold the chord.

when i have spare money i'm going to look into a Phantom Audio mod. he might be able to repair your amplifier as well. he removes components and replaces them with higher quality higher capacity items. all electrical components are matched to aid in improved sound signature and output. he has done a few harmon kardon factory amps from the W211 chassis.

I'm running aftermarket amps. Factory amp -> lc7i (converts high level speaker signal into rca) -> alpine pdx-v7 -> back to speakers.

Is the problem only with your aux input? If so, sounds like a bad cord instead of bad amp.

Do you have to contact them directly for this? Don't see any Benz options on their website. Also, do you ahave to send tour amp to him or is it like a core swap situation?

yeah since Mercedes aren't his big volume customers its only through direct request. for Honda's/Acura's and high volume cars where he can source factory amplifiers for a low cost he can ship you a replacement while you ship him back your factory unit as a core.

i'm not sure if Becker/Harmon Kardon amplifiers are coded to our individual cars. for my car at least (W211 E63), they're very difficult to find on the used market for less than $350. my car will definitely have some downtime once it comes time for me to ship him my unit for upgrade.
