Drive Cycle for C63
#51
Episode 4: A new hope...
Took the car to dealer to re-flash (properly?) back to original. The tech explained that the car has the proper soft ware and was communicating but did need some coding (?) that might help the monitors ready up. They did not see any reason to change the ECU at this time. We will be doing drive cycles this week and keeping our fingers crossed that the monitors ready up. We had completed nearly 300 miles last time with no effect.
Any news there whale63?

Still dont understand why you just dont buy a tune with s handheld. Way cheaper and you will have a tune after. When the dealer flashes the car it will lose like 60hp

^^^ I understand what you are saying, and I did tell the dealer that it had a tune and needed to be reflashed. Thus trying to go back to original settings. I am willing to take the $200 gamble if this car readies up this week. If not then a tune might be the answer. I will probably go with the eurocharged tune.

If my mechanic doesn't get it resolved this Thursday, I will be using my Eurocharged tune to flash back to stock. I haven't had a chance to use the MyGenius since it shipped out to me. Will post results

What is this box for? Just trying to eliminate any oddities in this car before I invest in tune/ ecu.
This was located in my trunk near the fuse box.

UPDATE: Jack **** happened with drive cycles. Our Merc dealer absolutely denied having the capacity to re-flash the ECU. Sounds not legit, but that is what we get in our state. We ordered Eurocharged progammer + stage1. This should over write the ECU and give us a little boost all while keeping the car Cali legal. Please F$#%^%& work! Should have the HHP by next week. I would be more excited if I knew a 100% it will work, but I will remain positive.

EC has the o2’s turned off on all their tunes and mygenius is a POS.
Drive cycle is super easy with this car. And I passed emissions with headers zero kit kats as well in the system.

MyGenius is the hand held programmer that DimSport offers. Eurocharged as well as other tuners utilize the DimSport tuning suite.
In reference to its garbage...you are some what locked to using them if you need to revert back to stock from what it seems. HP tuners for example can reflash over another tuners HP tuners file without issue. Also, tuners generally provide you with your factory tune and their tune file. If you own the cable which you should, you can flash back to factory stock or attempt tuning yourself, although not advisable.
In these situations, if the previous owner had a Eurocharged tune but did not provide you with the handheld, you are basically paying Eurocharged again for their tune just to have the handheld programmer. It is not in their best interests financially to care if you tuned with them previously as playing coy will guarantee you paying for the same service from them once again.
DimSport most likely and probably will never have as much tuning ability as a tuner who utilizes HP Tuners or something very trick like WinOLS. In stating that...its also much harder to tune using HP Tuners or other means as many more maps are available for adjustment as well as available to screw up.

UPDAAAAAATE!
All you *******s in any state but Cali can suck it. You get away with murder..in fact I think murder is now less of a crime than having a tuned car in California.
1. The car did have a tune of some unknown origin that was keeping the monitors "not ready".
2. Our very own factory Mercedes service centers don't know what they are talking about and are only scheming for my pocket book (no duh?).
3. Eurocharged did in fact know what they are selling and how well it would work. YAY! The car drives much smoother, more mid and oh yah PASSED FOOKING SMOG WITH ALL MONITORS RUNNING!
Big thanks to Case and Jerry for the help.
4. The MyGenius HHT did just fine and if it doesn't work for you then you messed up. Pretty simple really.
5. The Becker Catback exhaust you find on eBay sounds great, fits great and provides a satisfying growl without the drone at a great price.
6. If you are in Cali and have similar problems with your c63 follow this terrible thread or just contact me for the skinny on what it takes to get er done in Cali officially...sort of..in a way.
Oh and if you want a full Supersprint exhaust for non-California smog or track days I still have one for sale.

^^^ I agree, but during my racing career I have I have seen others been lead down the wrong path quite a lot on forums. Maybe because it is competition, or maybe just lots of *** hats. There is a lot of misinformation in the world and a lot of people who love dicking around with others (especially on forums). The decision also came to money. "do I spend $200 and possibly solve this through a dealer who said they can re-flash or go with a tune for $1500 that I may mess up and ruin my ECU?" Without loads of cash or familiarity with how the tuning world works, I have learned a lot in the last few months. I do appreciate all the help and now realize that it is not so scary to tune modern cars with the right understanding and quality input.
Thank you forum members and now help me find a buyer for my full Supersprint exhaust.

To all...first, honestly, I have searched and come across some Drive Cycle instructions that are amazing, to say the least, and impossible to do in American suburbia!
So....does anyone have a way around either the 200-300 miles and it is good......or a set of impossible instructions to getting a 2013 C63 ready for emission testing, that it failed once for a coil P0304.....that is fixed.
In advance, I greatly appreciate a shortcut ....if possible.

Honestly, it takes me about a week to get all cleared. Not sure why.
