Weistec tune question

Has anyone used the cypher handheld tuner? Wondering how easy this handheld is to use.

I've had the eurocharged V7 tune for about a year, ready to try something new, see if I can maintain the bump in power but improve driveability.

I live in CA and will need a stock tune to pass smog. So I'm looking for the best tune I can upload or flash back to stock myself.

I'm in CA also. I'm curious, have you passed smog with the V7 on your car, or did you always flash it back to stock?

I have not smogged the car yet, but my understanding is there are few if any tunes that are CARB compliant. So I want the ability to flash back to stock easily.

I believe the V7 tune turns off the CAT and O2 readiness monitors so they will never complete, hence you’ll never pass smog in CA.

If you're on stock exhaust and manifold, then you wouldn't need your canned tune to turn off those monitors would you? That doesn't seem to make sense assuming stock exhaust that is. My car is stock, has a tune, and just passed SMOG FWIW.

I'm just relaying to the OP that there are in fact tunes that pass SMOG. Although we are now far off OP's original topic which was about Weistec and their Cypher unit.

v7 tune doesn’t actually turn off the CAT and o2 sensor monitor, they just stay incomplete.

When I asked for a retune after I deleted my primary cats so I wouldn’t get a check engine light, Eurocharged stated that Cat deletes were already apart of the v7 tune and no retune was needed.

Interesting. But if you put a decatted car back on a stock tune, aren't you still having a check engine light=SMOG fail?

Just an FYI the Weistec Tune is California Approved so is fully legal to run and no need to ever remove it.

Yes correct, loss of primary cats on a stock tune will trigger a check engine light.
Loss of secondary cats will not trigger a CEL, however, you can fail visual inspection.

Thanks for the info. Weistec also confirmed it's CARB compliant. I still like the option of flashing back and forth though. I guess no one has used the Cypher Handheld?

cypher handheld is the same device as Eurocharged. They are mygenius. Weistec’s Tune was much smoother than EC for me. All around it felt better as well. No jerky transmission.

Thanks for the info. Also great you could provide the comparison between EC and Weistec.
