Man that sucks, but glad you're OK. Every time I see a deer x-ing sign, I'm eyeing the sides of the roads like they are full of IED's!

If you can find it we can cook it on my fire pit!

I did get extremely lucky. He was a big boy and I only managed to hit his back leg basically. Was about 4:30AM in an area where the tree line comes right up to the road surface. He lept out from the opposite lane and I managed to swerve over but not off the road and braked from 60-65 down to about 20 when the impact happened. Definitely could have been much worse.

So far it looks like only the head light and the corner of the hood, and I think a couple grill clips may be broken too. We'll see when I bring it to the body shop. Nothing leaking and no codes or errors aside from "Adaptive headlights inoperable".

Front bumber plastic is pretty darn resilliant! If it cracks, impact was pretty bad. New light obviously...Sorry to hear. Some venison jerkey?! But there is a video of a member her who RECORDED hitting a dear...I couldn't sleep for days after seeing that LOL...maybe someone can pull it up. It will make your impact feel a bit better...his was savage.

I'm hopIng 2k or less.. new light obviously. The grill and bumper seem to be fine. The grill may have a couple broken clips tho.

The big thing is going to be the hood. Im not sure if, being aluminum, it can be repaired or will have to be replaced.

BTW does your insurance cover these damages, or do you have to dish it out of your pocket?

If you need a bumper it will be about $4000 for parts only and that just includes the light, bumper cover, and hood.

Is that a thing in the USA where you pay them to take on a risk and at the first sign of payout they drop you for a not at fault accident? I would understand if the claim was for a number of moving violations that increased their risk beyond what they were willing to take on, but tapping a deer... not reason to get dropped. After all, this is precisely what auto insurance coverage is for.
