I hit a deer: Pre-Facelift to Facelift Conversion
Well it happened. I hit a deer full on and ruined my front bumper, grille, hood, and lights. Mechanically, everything else is fine. I have it all on dashcam, which I will upload shortly. It's an epic video and deserves to go viral, LOL. Attached pic is of the impact. Like i said, I was able to drive the car home and the oil cooler & radiator maintained pressure...Got just bent slightly. Deer died on impact and flew 60 yards. Luckily didn't go under or above my car, or maybe this would be a different story. This was not a fun experience to go through.
Anyways, this is a perfect time to go from pre-facelift to facelift. Anyone have personal experience doing the conversion? Only thing that seems "difficult" is the upgraded lights. I am going with the DEPO brand headlights. I have their rear taillights already and love the quality compared to OEM. Will these wire directly or will I need a conversion connector or other wiring? Also - see my list below. Am I missing anything?
So far my list is:
DEPO Front Headlights: $325
Facelift Grille: $250
Facelift hood: $1,000
507 hood cutouts: $150
Facelift Bumper: $350
Facelift bumper lip: $350
Facelift bumper LED /wiring: $200
Facelift side markers: $60
Oil cooler: $500
Other misc replacement parts: $850
Paint: $1,500
.

I know I shouldn't be laughing but I can't believe you actually posted a screen shot of the deer mid impact AHAHAAH. I'm in the middle of the same dilemma. I got hit in a parking lot and ready for a facelift conversion. Are you considering a black series bumper?

Damn that sucks. I almost hit a deer just a couple hours ago. If there had been traffic in the oncoming lane I'd have hit the deer dead on.

I find it hilarious actually. Granted the impact was no joke. Like i said the video is classic.
No on the BS bumper, as I would also need BS fenders to fit the wider bumper. Insurance fully covers this.

He'd have to get more expensive fenders (which currently aren't damaged from what OP said), and then to not look weird he'd have to do the back too including the exhaust. I doubt insurance is going to cover a $15k-$20k conversion lol

There is definitely more damage than what’s listed above which is just cosmetic and can be seen. Always is. There are grills and air guides behind the bumper that will likely have to be replaced. Even if no damage to the bumper support etc you should probably replace the bent oil cooler lines as long as insurance is picking up the tab. And why didn’t the airbag go off if you hit the deer that hard? At the end of the day with labor you’re probably looking at over $10k. But you’re ok which is the important part. Cars can be repaired.

Thats crazy. I’m glad you are ok forget the car! A popular car meet (katies in VA) around me has infamous wipeouts so I am happy you arent hurt. Most of the people trying to style leaving katies have ended up quite hurt.

Dude! That thing SPRINTED in front of your car. Glad you are ok. A taller deer with some antlers and you definitely could have been hurt

Sucks for both of you glad you are ok and your car isn’t too bad.
just 2 days ago I had a massive moose coming out of the ditch I hit the brakes but began sliding on the ice... would have hit him so let off the brakes and went on the shoulder to try and get around him before he got on the road he sped up to try and hit me luckily I missed him but by less than 2 feet (almost t boned me) need to get a dash cam myself

I certainly would have used more swear words on the video! Damn deer always wait until the last possible second to jump in front of you, I had one I swerved for just enough to not hit it with the front of my car - damn think just ran into the side of the car instead!

These animals are stupid. They always run INTO the road and not AWAY from it, not sure why. I hit an posum but I slowed down (maybe like 12mph) after hitting brakes - thought I killed it, was on side of road after it ran INTO my passenger side front bumper. Although I think my rubber lip saved it's life because it wasn't there when I came back 30 min later. It almost did the same thing a week later but it freaked out and went back AWAY from the road. Took getting almost killed to learn from it's mistake I guess.

Update:
I've bought a 2012 OEM hood, 2013 OEM bumper, and DEPO style headlights. Looking for a grille and CF front lip next. Also going to install 507 style louvers into the hood - wish me luck there.
I wish there were better PFL to Facelift threads out there. There are a few, but they are all garbage!

Update: Turns out literally everything bolted onto the car without any modification. There aren't a lot of guides on here that detail a pre facelift to facelift, and i guess i know why...because you don't need to know anything!
You don't even need a new hood latch, literally everything bolts on direct. Also what was awesome to know is that the DEPO facelift headlights I bought were 100% plug and play compared to the old OEM pre-facelift lights. So in summary, this upgrade was relatively simple.
Granted, I went OEM hood and bumper which helped. Grill was aftermarket. More pictures to come when its done next week!

Looking good! Honestly I want pre FL front end and 507 hood scoops on my FL car....LOL I really like the older front end with the beautiful round fogs and side vents along with pointed front. Just looks more aggressive to me.....Not so C300 looking
Is it me or does the C light glow alittle brighter & fuller than OEM? Looks damn good to me for aftermarket!

That said, there is nothing more frightening than a deer crossing your path; especially at night when you have limited visibility.
