Put your hand on various parts (safely) to isolate it. Not lifters. The sound is low and muted...odd

I actually just did that. It feels like it’s around the oil cap area or slightly above it. Isn’t that where the cam adjuster is?

How many miles? Both my adjusters on one bank went at about 100k miles.

71k. I don’t know if this helps, but the knock starts after the engine is already warmed up. Nothing at cold start.

2013 W204 C63 AMG P31 Estate wagon
Mine used tick on a warm engine but only occassionally on start up before I did the Tasos Moschatos pin flip on all 4 adjusters.
Has been 1 year and 7,000klm and no noises so far.

I just added a quarter quart of motor oil and the tapping is almost gone, but you can still hear it when you put your ear next to it. I guess that’s an improvement.

Those cam adjusters start making noice at like 15k and just slowly gets louder, they all do it and they never improved them so new ones do it after a bit too, pin flip will quiet them down for a while, replacing them will quiet them down but eventually you just live with it until they get really bad or throw codes and then deal.
