So this happened.....

If it was raining ****, I’d get hit with a dick.

Neighbor decided to have a contractor spray paint the front of the white building.

They covered up my trailer but missed my car.

The contractor was mortified when I sent him pictures and he dropped everything and came over to clean it up.

luckily is was latex paint.

At least I got a fresh coat of ceramic on it now.

Fcking overspray.

10 years ago, I was quite a different person with regard to my temperament.

10 years ago, I would have gone on a killing spree. Remarkably, I kept calm about this.

One casualty was that the solvent they used dissolved the blue color on my hood emblem.

Id like to replace it, but all I see is Chinese crap for sale on the internet.

Also, call me old fashioned, but what do we think about the standing hood star on a C class?

I don’t like the standing star but the new black and chrome hood emblem from the newer cars fits and looks nicer than the blue emblem.

What the ***** terrible luck!! I still need to give you measurements on that pin. I swear I haven't forgotten.

I like the standing emblem with the multi slatted grill. Theres a red w204 4matic that has it, of course I can’t find photos of it now.

So machinist, I commend you on staying calm. I would of went scortched earth on who ever did it....BUT....here is some motivational positive news:

1. over spray tends to dry in mid air and then it lands on the surface without much tact or stick
2. if you take the time, with warm water and good off (orange oil) you can wipe it all off pretty much, it will just take some elbow grease and time
3. The rubber trim: just use a silicone grease and rub it gently and most of the overspray will come off (assuming that’s it’s water based paint)
4. Gives you an excuse to wax the car too

Don’t let it get to you, with very warm water and some microfiber rags and circular motions (or even a random orbital polisher) it wI’ll come off...

Sorry You had to go through this, given that you stayed calm and collected you will have some great positive karma coming your way...

Well, the worst of the curse is out of it.

We used a product called Goof Off, but it wasnt the citrus stuff. It smelled more like petroleum distillate.

There are a few dots here and there on some of the plastics, and I am sure to find stragglers every time I re ceramic it.

So where do we look for a genuine part without panning for part numbers? FCPs website is hopeless. Or I’m old fashioned.

Do we have the multi slat grilles? Or is that a non AMG car thing?

I actually just PayPal’d you for the shipping on the prototype cores. It seems that the wild fires are slowing the progress out west.

Did I see an AMG emblem for the hood? Or was that some Chinese trinket with double stick tape....

Re: Hood ornaments,

Ive just had an idea. It seems easy enough to swap out.

What about both? If I’m feeling classy, I’ll fly the star. If I’m feeling sassy, I’ll go high speed/low drag.

Those are the emblems I have there, the matte silver one. ^ A member made a batch of them 3 or 4 years ago, great quality.

I bought a couple extra but never used them because my original held up fine. I could try to dig them up if anyone’s interested.

Anything is possible with enough medication. I’m grateful that I was able to realize there was enough of a problem with my temper to start having the relevant conversations with the right people.

Do they attach to the hood like the OE emblem?

Sorry, I only have a couple extra and they’re not for sale. If and when I find them they’re reserved for contributors here.

wasn't sure...did you try pressure washing? wondering if that would get most of it off.

Jobs pretty much done. Just have to put some back to black on the plastic trim around the mirrors and it’ll be good as new. The Goof Off left some residue on the plastic that only it seems to take off.
