Per Weistec (follows the same fill procedure as factory, which is impossible with the side plug):
Sanity checked things with them via email as well before installing the pan:

In your defense, that is how most automatic transmissions are filled.
The level-setter is a fixed part of the Weistec pan, which is why they switched from the factory single plug design (where you have to knock off the level-setter with something when draining) to a dedicated drain and fill.

It was a classic RTFM fail on my part. I was thinking those smaller ports were -8 (for an external cooler) but they're much smaller than that.
ya'll are just here to start fights now aren't ya. fluid is transferred through oiling ports located on the input shaft of the transmission. this oiling port does not exist with the same design as the torque converter 722.9 from what I recall.

What fighting?
This isn't the R230 sub-forum where people go to war over STAR Diagnostic setups or the W211 AMG one where you have some of the most idiotic opinions imaginable on the M156.
Went to cross-reference compatibility and uncovered a few things that were new to me. I previously thought that the MCT introduced in '09 was the same transmission that Mercedes-AMG scaled to the facelift W204 C63, with the only differences being the fluid and an updated filter.
That is not the case. Early MCTs use a different wet clutch unit than the later ones and the transmission itself has a different part number. Curious now what other changes there were.
Anyway, I've digressed enough. Hope your new transmission is doing well and appreciate all the good info provided from this experience.
I don't know what your understanding of a sealed unit is, but seeing as the transmission ATF circulates through the MCT clutch pack, it can't be sealed by definition.
Sealed as in welded together. Not bolted, or riveted. If you want to change the clutches or play around inside (pointless unless you're making your own parts), you'll be getting your saw or cut-off wheel out. Do you consider a torque converter a sealed unit as in non-serviceable? Like if you wanted to replace your torque converter lock up clutch? Yes not sealed to getting fluid in or out, or splined to the front pump. In that by definition you're correct it is not "sealed"
Let me correct my statement "MCT WETCLUTCH IS NON-SERVICEABLE"

There is one particular d*****bag on the ML forum that that I have repeatedly come to blows with, but no one here that I can think of that has made a lasting impression in that regard.
Sorry for the thread hijack Jim - back to regular programming please.

Car is done. I guess I didn’t realize how jerky the transmission had become. Super smooth now, especially at low speeds. Shifts feel good, maybe not quite as snappy as I remember, we’ll see how it breaks in. The guys at BENZTEC really did a nice job - good listeners, good judgement, great attention to detail especially on the rear diff pump mount, custom hoses and removing all my irritating codes/warnings for airbags etc. Car came back sparkling clean. Will be taking it to Big Willow next weekend for some shakedown laps and report back more then.

Thanks! Think the carbon intake was from JLMotoring or something, they might not be around anymore. These GruppeM copies are all the same though, eBay ones are likely to be just as good or better.
When I had slippage in 3rd and 5th gear, they replaced the solenoids that were in bad shape and that did the trick. You may have already beaten that horse, though.
Can you please describe the slippage you mentioned. I am currently experiencing slippage in my transmission (w212) E63 and i dont believe for the life of me that the tranny needs a rebuild considering it only happens during initial application of the throttle. Perhaps you can point me in the right direction with regards to these solenoids.
Thanks in advance
