Antigravity batteries

Anybody have any experience with the antigravity batteries? They sell a replacement for the C63 and I was wondering if anybody runs them because the weight benefits are tremendous. Our batteries are like 4 or 5 times the weight of those lithium ions

I don’t trust a Li battery in my car. If you get into a wreck and the cells get compromised, or the lithium is exposed to air or water, it catches fire.

2Li + 4H2O —> 2LiOH + 3H2 + O2 —> 2LiOH + H2O + 2H2 + Fire

Fire + Ambient Air + 2H2 —> More fire + 2H2O

More fire plus gasoline and plastic equals a bad day.

Dont hate on my chem. It’s been a decade since I graduated college.

I’ll live with it in my phone, because it’s a phone.

Least of which to mention is that Lithium Hydroxide is nasty ****.

This too.

At least it’s not as heavy as an S class.

If you get into a bad enough wreck to compromise the battery where it's located you'll probably wish a fire finished you off.

I dunno, she can go on a pretty decent diet if you just take everything out.

I have seen 2 antigravity batteries on fire (branding doesnt matter, all li batteries can suffer the same fate in the right/wrong conditions) and it is a scary sight because they just keep going and it seems like you cannot stop the chemical reaction. Both were a result of running it low on voltage and both (or at least 1) were improperly charged using the wrong type of charger.

We still have about 10 running around in various cars (the tiny ones that weight about 5lbs) and they really do work well and save ALOT of weight. Use the correct recommended trickle chargers and don't let them run down and they are a good option.

What charger do you like using for your fleet?
How often are you charging?

I considered the Antigravity, but ended up ordering this: https://www.lithiumax.com.au/product...tarter-battery + their "OEM" Mounting bracket for secure fitment: https://www.lithiumax.com.au/product...cd-r-batteries

Lithium Iron batteries like LithiuMax or Voltphreaks are safer.

I run one on my SVT Lightning, definitely saves a lot of weight and cranking amps are higher than my old Yellow Top Optima. Lifespan is 7-9 years so it's definitely worth the money. Considering on purchasing one for my E63.

You only use a tender when there is parasitic draw and should only use their recommended chargers https://antigravitybatteries.com/hel...osing-charger/
Batteries that are out of the cars tend to last for quite some time without losing charge.

Using the wrong charger (a standard battery charger) to boost them can lead to this

I don’t know. I think I’d rather die of blunt force trauma given the choice. Being burned alive is an awful way to go. I’ve seen an overturned wreck with occupant entrapment- fully involved- before. I had to flip it over and tow it to the state police barracks after the fire department put the blaze out. The occupants were unrecognizable as humans. And the smell.

It wasn’t caused by a Li battery though.
