Opinions on removing the 507 stripe only on the bumper

So ever since I got my car, the clear coat had some spider cracks right in the middle, someone backed into it at some point, maybe a trailer hitch, no damage or deformation other than the spider cracks in the clear coat, but bugged me in certain light and when washing it, so finally got around to pulling the bumper and having it fixed.

So now, I don't have the 507 stripe on the bumper and it is like 900 bucks best price to buy from mercedes as you can only buy the entire stripe, ebay ones are like 40 bucks but in no way match the color as the mercedes stripe is like a dark gray with a hint of metallic to it, ebay ones are just flat black, so I would have to replace all the stripes with an ebay one or maybe I could go on a quest to find a vinyl shop that had a matching vinyl I could have cut.

My other thought is I don't hate it without it, to me the one on the rear bumper almost looks a bit wrong and not really cohesive with the rest, so wondering what everyone thinks about just leaving it off - photoshopped a pick of my car, comments welcome.

I've always liked the stripe on the 507s, Based on this picture, it doesn't look bad without the rear section. Try it without for awhile and see what you think. If you decided it looks better with the rear part, I would go to a vinyl shop and see if they can match it up before paying 900 bucks (ouch!)..

$900 is a lot of money for a small sticker. However, I do like the side stripes on the 507.
Anyway the body shop can just mask the bumper stripes when they respray?

I think it looks better without the bumper section personally.

Create a poll - see what the verdict is.

Personally I would put it back. Whether that’s oem, eBay or whatever way you can that is within your budget.

They could have but then they would have had to blend the clear and it already had a bit of a ****ty dealer back lot repair already at some point with a blend in the clear, so they wanted to just do it right and not have the blended repair fail under the new repair, so I had them blend the color out at the sides and then clear it all, looks absolutely perfect but had to give up that little bit of stripe to do it. May see if a vinyl shop can match it as I kept the old stripe and have a template of it. It is across the entire wheel well so I think if you got a 95% match it would not be noticeable as it is not side by side with the old stripe. The ebay one is just so far off it would be noticeable basically matte metallic dark gray to flat black, so I would have to replace all the stripes to make it work.

I think you should take the entire stripe off. Stickers makes the car look cheap.

Maybe I will try peeling them all off and if I don't like it put them back on, found a post on the UK MB forum of someone that had some made in the right color so may have an option to replace them fully if I wanted them back.

If you search online, there a lot of variants or places that seem to have the sticker. I would not pay $900 for it.

2000 Acura NSX, 2012 C63 P31 (gone and not forgotten), 2015 C63 507
1) that price is rediculous
2) is there not anyone on this forum that works for MB that would be willing to buy stuff and ship to members as a side hustle

I have an NSX and on our forums there are several members who work for Acura and are willing to buy stuff at cost and ship it out for small gains. $20-30 depending on the cost and savings.

It's a win-win for all of us because we get parts at wholesale cost, the employee has a side job buying and selling parts for a small profit, and the dealership doesn't give a crap they're selling parts either way and their volume numbers look better.

I dont have much of an opinion on with or without the rear section but maybe this helps. Cheap ebay ones are worthless and started to peel after first track day.
There is a guy on instagram who sells 507 stripes, I think his euro price translates to $160 u.s. or so shipped. He uses mactac pro 9800 vinyl which is better than the cheaper ebay stuff. The only issue I know of is that the edge behind the rear wheel is sometimes a little too curved on his template but can be slightly trimmed by hand with no issues. I have no affiliation other than replacing my factory gray stripes with gloss black. They have only been on for a few weeks with no high speed track days yet so I can't swear to durability but my install.guy immediately noticed that they were better vinyl with better adhesive than the first ebay ones we tried.

Thanks I did find that guy on instagram and on the mb uk forum and talked to him and he has a very close match for the matte graphite oem color, so he is calling his vinyl guy to see if he can get a set made, UK is on pretty hard lockdown so wasn't sure when he could get them but sounds like the best option for the money.
