Not at all disappointed man. Totally expected. I did far far more stupid and dangerous things with cars as a kid. I get it.

I’m just saying that you should consider cutting your losses before this turns into a money pit. Because it will. That’s just too much damage - it’s got to be well over 1/3 of the blue book value if not 1/2. And it won’t ever be right.

And also that a nice car is not something to trust a kid with not ruining. It’s just a fact of life, not trying to preach.

I skipped over this thread when posted because I figured the entire back end was destroyed and the car would be totaled. Is insurance covering somehow or is it out of pocket? It just doesn’t make sense to me to fix. If I were you I would use all OEM parts, forget about coilovers, get it as straight as you can and sell it.

Or, you can dump a ton of money and time into it and always be trying to track down why it doesn’t drive straight or why the tires wear funny. You might be able to get it right eventually but at what cost.

I don’t know. But I wouldn’t start thinking about aftermarket anything until you can make sure it can be properly fixed back to OEM spec. Just my 0.02, good luck.

Thanks. We will definitely be considering how to proceed. Now that we have the total we will be going through insurance for this one.I have a great deal of faith n the shop it is in and we intentionally made sure that every possible item got on the estimate. They are pretty confident that they can get it right but we will see what the insurance does. He loves this car but it's just a car. If they total it we will have a hard choice to make...

Thanks Again.

That car had MAJOR air. We're talking feet, not inches.

Yeah. We went out there and looked after the fact. I can't say height but distance was pretty far.

I can actually get that. I hadn't thought about it but he has Life360 on his phone. It tracks everything from speed to acceleration, to hard stops, etc....

We have a winner! He turned onto the road a little less than a 1/4 mile before the tracks....He made it to somewhere between 57-63 miles an hour before he started to slow after impact. His phone was on low power mode so we didn't get all the data but pretty much exactly how he said it happened. I am literally shocked. I would have bet lots of money he was lying.

I’m impressed that he was able to hack that app so it shows you the speed he wanted. Very impressed, he’s a keeper.

That’s some pretty crazy damage to the rear suspension. The force required to destroy the control arms and the hub is pretty high. No front end damage ? I kinda find that hard to believe to be honest. Just make sure nothing got bent or twisted frame wise or like was mentioned prior youll be forever trying to fix nagging issues of things not being quite right. 60 mph could do that but it would take a hell of a jump at that speed to do that damage. How out of level is the rail track ?

The tracks are pretty "humped" but honestly not ridiculously....No discernable front end damage at this point other than a possible bent wheel. Even if the wheel is bent (which we don't think it tis), there is no way to know that it happened as part of this incident.

General Opinion: The car took a pretty massive impact evenly across the back either at launch or at landing. No one can really believe the resulting damage is so localized.

Thanks...I think that is the plan at this point. Obviously we are going to do something with aftermarket coilovers but most everything else will be good used OEM. Now just dealing with the insurance adjuster...USAA has always been phenomenal but we got a "less than great" adjuster this time so having to deal with him nit-picking on whether certain bolts need to be replaced, are the springs actually bad, etc... It is a bit of a pain but oh well.

Once you get it back together, definitely trade it on a Raptor, they jump better

In all seriousness though, very carefully run your hand down the c-pillar between the back of the door and rear window and feel for any even small ripple and look at all the body gaps around the rear of the car between the doors trunk and body, with an impact this hard I would be worried about the body structure being damaged.
