I thought it would be nice of us to all share our videos and have an open discussion of track ready beasts or track outings.

Laguna Seca
April 10th, 2021

Vehicle Mod List:
Long Tube Headers
ROW Airboxes
OEM Paper Air Filters
X-Pipe
91 Octane
Hammer Tune by eightysixtuned
Falken FK510 Street Tires
Carbotech XP12

First track outing with the full weight E63 on Falken FK510 Street Tires driving at 5/10ths and first time at Laguna Seca. Car was lacking proper tire and brakes for such a heavy car so best thought it wise to take it easy. Also, lack of limited slip really held back the ability to come onto power or come off power without causing the open diff to lurch forward. You'll see a few times in the video where I attempt to roll onto the throttle and the vehicle lurches awkwardly due to the lack of limited slip. Fastest lap of the recording was somewhere within the range of
1:44-1:47. Utilizing Harry's Laptimer for logging but will need assistance from Harry to correctly time a few laps for dropped GPS signal. Fasted time estimation of the perfect lap per Harry's Lap Timer of all laps of me driving at 5/10th's estimated 1:40 lap time. I estimate with a LSD, R compound, and a better braking system W211 this time could easily be 1:30 or very close on factory suspension.

Pre aero, about 3400lbs and still on pizza cutters (245F / 265R) so it understeers like a pig.

This season should be slightly different. Still on the skinnies but they should be pressed into the ground a bit more more now

Have also stripped another 100lbs or so out of it as well so it could be in the high 3200lbs range now.

do you have an LSD and what are your alignment specs? from an outside perspective if you do have an LSD, it's very loose and your alignment may not be aggressive enough.

You mean tight? There's virtually no oversteer, it's all understeer so it's far from being loose.

Because of availability at the time I do have mismatched tires though. 245/35-19 Trofeo-R up front and 265/30-19 Cup2 out back. It's NOT balanced right now so it's unsettled under braking but manageable. Maybe that's what you're noticing?

I had to spend so much time on cooling last season which was frustrating. I believe that has been sorted, so now I can work on the balance this season.

I’ve posted plenty on here in the past. I don’t really have many recent videos to share because my car has been in pieces for most of the past two seasons.

Here are a couple laps from Big Willow in late Feb. Chased down a GT3 RS with my terminally broken car. Hasn’t run since.

(ignore the telemetry it’s never right)

i haven't driven big willow yet, only streets of willow, but is it as bumpy as your camera shows or was that the camera mount?

It’s crazy rough. Hardest track on tires I’ve been on. Worse surface even than NJMP. It was also not even 50F out with a 40mph headwind down the front straight. Awful conditions. Pretty unimpressed.

And without rear aero the car was super sketchy as the track is basically all high-speed turns except for 3/4/5. That RENNtech wing was ugly as hell but effective.

My brake compounds are also mismatched. I had gone too aggressive with compound so I bumped the front down and now the rear is too aggressive. I need to data log but I think it's also triggering ABS in the rear as well. I want to see how it is with aero before potentially addressing prematurely. The rear wing will produce quite a bit of downforce so I am curious if it will neutralize the compounds. It's a mess but work in progress. Unfortunately there's essentially nobody with a similar setup so it's all basically trial and error. Last season was just a shakedown for the new build so I will work on getting it dialed in this season.

I already have front wheels on order. They're coming from Japan (Enkei) with a July ETA. Will go 265 up front and see how a non staggered setup feels.

I give absolute zero fks about how it "looks" so if I need to go wider in the rear I will chop out the fenders and likely just go with some generic over fenders. I don't need to use the rear doors so if whatever I go with covers them it won't matter. I'll just mount them with rivnuts so It can be easily removed if required.

Here's how mine sits right now
Since the W204 forum has the most track rats probably of any AMG forum-gnscbco.jpg

BIlstein PSS10 w/ KMAC camber plates. Dampening set at 8F, 5R
Whiteline adjustable end links
UPD rear camber/toe arms

Alignment settings:
Front:
Camber: -3.9
Caster: 10.8
Total toe: 0.32
Rear:
Camber: -2.2
Total toe: 0.3

Front and rear strut bars
Carbotech XP10 Front, XP8 rear
Stoptech SS lines
Motul RBF 600
Recaro GF-UP bucket seat
18x8.5 Volk TE37
Square 235/40/18 Maxxis RC1

Weighed on Proform scales at 3980 with 150lb driver and 3/4 tank of gas.

Havent had a full shakedown with this setup yet since COVID re-shut down our local racetracks.

Some changes I'll be doing eventually:
Square 255/35/18 (likely Nankang AR-1)
Weistec transmission pan
Oil catch can

Sven oil cooler

how do you like the Maxxis RC1? 235 is a bit small but looks to have a solid offset for the W204. the annoyance i find is that R compound tire size selection for larger sedan's outside of your 911, Viper, Camaro, Mustang, etc are really not properly matched or available.

The Maxxis RC1 hold up great. It takes quite a bit to get them up to temp, but they are solid after. 235 is pretty tiny, but these definitely run one size up.
I've tried other tires like A052 and RE71R, but those sidewalls are too soft for our heavy cars.
Finding properly matched wheels are another obstacle as well

Hi guys, i am on the way to convert mine '08 C63 on a track rat now. I am in Paraguay Southamerica, and i have imported the C63 form USA some years ago. So far i have ECU tunning, wavetrack LSD, ARH headers, E85 kit and KW Clubsport 2.

I will strip all the interior, delete the solar roof and put a full roller cage that i have ordered from germany, along with racing seats/seat bell. I still need to way a couple of months to get it here.

Any recommendations on wheels for weight saving?. square setup?.

I will post photos later when the modifications are done.

Sorry for the bad english...

Yes, around 50% of the gas station have 100% ethanol here. Is it sugar cane maded, around 30% cheaper than 95 octanes gas. I made a dyno base before and after E85 kit, and got around 35 whp on the upgrade. Currently 449whp with mine upgrades.

Yeah, a 255/35 Nankang runs pretty true to size from my brief mock up

Theres quite a bit of room in the front wheel well now because of the coilovers and camber setting. On the track setup, I have to run a 13mm spacer to flush out a 8.5 +35. Tons of room in the front and back in case I need to adjust for increase tire poke.

Yeah, I bet I'll be doing some trimming up front. I have some 19 X 9.5 +27 on order to bump to 265 in the front. With the near -4° camber, it does make quite a bit more fender room though.

I was test fitting with some spacers and washers using my rear 10" and a 265 to eyeball if that +27 would work. I think I can make it fit.

I'm guessing your fender lines are removed?

I've been playing with different mounts and just switched to this combo which is rock solid. The mount is as beefy as a GoPro mount. You want a short solid arm and a thick suction cup that doesn't "rotate" with each bump.

Panavise 809 Mount
Amazon Amazon

Phone Mount
Amazon Amazon

Obligatory shot of my track car.

No, but maybe an inch trimmed from the outside edge. The engine bay is too exposed for my liking to remove them completely.

I also have my fenders pinched and pulled out a bit. If I have to do more it's not a huge deal.
