Purchased a REALLY low mileage 6.208L - Future Proofing

Morning All (at least here on the East Coast of the US), posting this in this forum as the M156 gets way more eyes than at the W212 forum.

I found, and negotiated a purchase of, a 2011 E63 with 21,800 original miles. Oil changed once a year regardless of mileage or every 2500mi. Knowing what the community now knows about the M156 engine, how would you recommend future proofing basically a 'new' engine? Meaning, what would be your thoughts on going ahead and pulling the valve covers and replacing the tappets with the SLS Black options, replace the valve adjuster lockplates with units from 63 motorsports, injectors, etc. so that I minimize the chance of the common issues 10 years from now? Or is it a just a matter of time no matter what? I'm ok with either, just weighing options now.

As always, thanks!

All the stuff you mentioned can be done in advance of them failing. Doing them would alleviate most of the risk of them failing and so if you have the means would be a decent idea to just do them now
Also the headbolts should be switched out as well

I did, but the M156 gets very little traffic there. And since it was more about the engine than the chassis, figured I’d hit up this one too.

thanks for the reply! This engine is past the cutoff so it should have the updated head bolts.

Have the upgraded buckets been viewed as a permanent solution or just a longer wear item that will eventually need replacing?

Ahh I missed that and forgot the 2011 e63 existed the one year with the 6.2 abs the upgraded head bolts . To my knowledge the buckets should be somewhat a permanent solution haven’t heard of them failing but also not sure how many have upgraded to the sls or black series for that matter versions
Being that the cams are somewhat a problem with the original lifters it is possible the cams could still cause a problem but like I said haven’t heard if that yet.

buckets and cams will eventually fail from wear. It's a race engine. Just drive the car. More frequent oil changes will always be beneficial. Replacement "updated" lifters and cams are not an upgrade or update to prevent anything. They will also wear out.
