changed 2 ecu's and got the same fault codes again
Hi,
2013 Mercedes Benz C63 w204 Magnuson supercharged. 42,000 miles. Fault Codes- P0430 Camshaft position censor A circuit bank 1, P0430 camshaft position censor A circuit high bank 1, P0438 Camshaft position censor A circuit high bank 2
Previous codes- P0343, P0438, P0368, P0393, P25242, P0340
When I first bought the car, I snapped the serpentine belt when accelerating at lower gears and the car was taken to eurocharge chicago. They checked the fuses and all wires and they were good. They said the issue was the ECU because something got fried in it. So a new ECU was bought and cloned. The second time the serpentine belt snapped again and through the same codes. Now this time I got some of the same fault codes and the fan turning on and oil temp gauge not working like it had done previously, but this time the serpentine belt was good. While accelerating with traction control off the car was losing traction in first and second gear. The car through some of the same codes once again, but the serpentine belt was good. I have noticed that if the belt tears off or the car hits the rev limiter that these codes are getting thrown. Does anyone have any suggestions? The car has been at the shop more than it has been driven, I am really frustrated and want to figure out what is wrong but cant find the problem.
Thank You
Max

wait...did they set you up with a brand new virgin ECU coded for your car or did they clone your current ECU which could be faulty? i would not have cloned a suspected faulty ECU.
also...your MCT shouldn't be hitting the rev limiter like that. either the transmission is in need of service or tune is not allow your TCU to adapt correctly causing shifting issue.

They bought a used ECU and cloned it from the old one. For the MCT, it was flashed back to stock and not sure why but when I clicked to up shift, it didn’t shift. I’ve also noticed in manual mode the car doesn’t accelerate as it does in auto mode.
thanks!
thanks!

When a tune is cloned from one box to another(and vehicle VIN) i would not think any physical errors of the 'faulty' box would follow along over to the new box, seems very very odd.*confused*
However!!
If letting me think freely here i think your problem is the supercharger adding inertia and when hitting the revlimiter the supercharger is pulling in the belt hard for a millisecond.
This might disturb the front dampener and the crank makes a small 'rattle' at the front, this can make the camchain loose tension for a split second, and thereby the ecu throws the codes because the camtrigger discs isn´t where they are supposed to be for that split second.
And following the engine runs normally again as the problem isn´t there any more when engine has coasted down in rpm.
This is a problem in dragracing,
Supercharged engines doesn´t like launchcontrol for a long period of time, it snaps the belt.

if you had a bubble on the sidewall of your tire, would you think swapping over the tire to a new wheel would fix the bubble on the sidewall of the tire?

faulty ecu's are far and few. Sounds like wiring or a mechanical fault. I've only seen 2 bad m156 ecu's, One the belt hit a wire and caused it to ground and fried that circuit. The other someone opened up to tune and fried the ecu. Sounds like it's not an ecu.
