After a quick drain and fill on my 2014 with 59k, I noticed this insoluble oil in the top of my reservoir. I used distilled water and oem Mercedes concentrate to make 50/50. Removed reservoir to clean any debris and rinsed with distilled before reinstalling.
I do use a very small amount of dielectric on the hose flange to aid in removal in the future. My coolant level stays consistent and with the small amount there is I may be overthinking this. Any input is appreciated!
not enough...but a certain number of radiators installed by mercedes and from an aftermarket supplier were faulty and failed causing coolant leaking into the transmission fluid. if you think its transmission fluid, swap out that radiator and do a flush of your transmission and coolant asap.

That's interesting I've never heard of that before. The transmission fluid looked good when I changed it last spring. I'll flush the system and replace the reservoir in a few months. Pretty sure I'm overthinking it!
Agreed that it's unlikely to harm anything, but if I noticed this on my car, I would try to extract it with an industrial syringe. Clean baseline and close monitoring afterwards.

That's a good idea! I'll remove as much as I can with a pipette and monitor it over the next few weeks.

Yes there were some issues with radiators from Valeo found in the W202 series, if I'm not mistaken
