C63 is now legal for SCCA Time Trials
Over a year ago I petitioned for the C63 w204 to be classed by the SCCA for Time Trials competition. It took about a year for them to do it and when they did it simply listed "2008-2014 C63 AMG". This left out the early 2015s which mine is, and it didn't specify any of the optional performance packages, 507 edition, Black Series and the different options almost always need to be specifically approved. So I repetitioned earlier this year to the scca national time trials board of directors to have them approve all C63 w204 models, as they hadnt been aware of the early 2015 models or the breadth of performance options, and they finally have corrected the classification. Rather than specify all the different performance options, they made it all inclusive by denoting
"C63 AMG (all naturally aspirated) 2008-2015"
The car is classed in the Sport 2 class:

Or the Tuner 2 class depending on mods:

And could even be in Max or Unlimited if heavily modified.
Sport and Tuner classes run on 200 or higher treadwear rated tires. Stickier tires are allowed in the max and unlimited classes i believe.
For those who don't know Time Trials is a lap time time attack event. You may run anywhere from 6 to 12 sessions during an event weekend at a national event, run groups are split up according to driver experience and licensing. Cars are generally gridded fastest to slowest so there is the least chance of catching the car in front, giving everyone the best chance to get clean fast laps during the scored sessions. So it's not wheel to wheel side by side in the corners but it is a big step up from track days and DE events which are almost all specifically run as non-competitive.
The rules are listed on the page links above. There is a national TT tour that includes quite a few events and a season points championship and there are regional TT events in many of the local SCCA regions that are less formal with less competition that still allow you to advance your Time Trial license level.
Time Trials is fairly new in SCCA but they have enough classes to accommodate many street cars with modest track mods, where as many other time attack sanctioning bodies mostly included heavily modded, heavily aero influenced race cars.
The Sport and Tuner classes don't require a lot of track only safety gear like roll bars, harnesses etc but the faster Max and Unlimited classes certainly do.
You do need a transponder to register your lap times but can rent one at the events for a small fee if you don't want to buy one.
Just an FYI in case anyone is interested in time attack for your C63.
