M156 "Stage 3" Cams

Finally got these bad boys in, had a shop custom spec these "stage 3" cams for me. Going to be doing a full top end rebuild with 63 Motorsports Plates, BS Lifters, Gaskets & Seals.

Can't wait to hear this thing chop!

First start-up video, very happy with the sound! Exhaust sounds a lot more aggressive and the car shakes at idle now.

Everything went smooth, no check engine lights and engine sounds smooth!

Wow. Those lobes look less "pointy." Sounds like a fun project.

Not sure which car the OP has, but I heard Tasos say the 2014 C63 uses the valve springs from the SLS and that's why the 2014s have more wear on the lobes.

Yeah, the lobes are a lot more rounded than the factory cams. Hopefully they should give me a nice choppy idle with some added HP.

Yes I have the cam specs, I specifically requested to go with the highest lift & duration as possible without having to modify the heads or valve springs.

Once I get them installed and tested I might post where I got them from.

These are plug and play with factory springs.

Yeah Barry is my tuner, I'll see if I can get him to touch up my tune after I get them installed.

I'll be installing them myself over the weekend so hopefully in the next 2 weeks I should have some startup & idle videos ready.

Interested in the results. I will be yanking the engine for a complete refresh after this track season. Upgraded cams seems like a no-brainer.

About $3k all in, definitely beats paying $8k+ for those billet cams.

Started pulling the valve covers off today, glad I'm replacing the cams. They were starting to show wear on the cam lobes.

Pretty easy job so far, only about 2 hours in. Might actually have them installed by the weekend.

Was that special early adopter pricing?

  1. How many km/miles?
  2. What oil?
  3. What change interval?

70k~ miles, Liquimoly "Molygen", changed every 3-5k~ miles. I've only put 10k miles since I bought it, it was serviced at the dealer prior to me.

Very nice. Keep us posted how it goes. I'm going to be replacing my lifters and adjuster plates soon. My camshafts look about the same as yours. Maybe a hair better so I decided to roll with them for now. Mine seemed to have a little more wear on the drivers side than the passenger side.

Here's a little side comparison between the custom spec cams and factory cams.

No dyno graphs, I'll take it to the track once it's back up and running.

Iīd say those still look good, pay more attention to the buckets, if buckets are good those camshafts have a lot of mileage left in them.
And having that said, keep them, do not trash them

Yeah I'll keep them, they didn't look too bad after removing them and inspecting them closely.

As for the lifters some of them were starting to look a little worn, glad I'm replacing them while I'm in there!

Hi
The new cams look really door and amazing you can purchase aftermarket ones, are the new cams the same lift or are you planning to check the piston to valve clearance.

I suspect those new cams are old with added material?
(in that case)Ask the company who grinded them if they have heattreated them properly so they donīt brake like Tomeiīs does.

Some lift has been added, you'll run into head clearance and valve spring issues before piston to valve clearance.

Yep, heat treated and hard coated. These shouldn't have the cam wear issues like the factory camshafts.

Lobes look much more like SLS cams that are much less pointed having more duration.
