Longtube Headers Install Cost
2009 sedan C63 stock exhaust manifold and down pipes. I spoke with a few shops and got wildly different answers and prices.
1 shop told me the engine had to come out for install (min $2600). Another told me there would be custom fabrication involved at $150hr.
Would love some input from anyone here familiar with installing headers, whats involved and what it should reasonably cost.

Depends what kit you have, some require additional modification and some are straight bolt-on.
Should be a weekend job with typical tools and jack stands.
I recommend getting new header gaskets, bolts and nuts and replace the engine mounts while you're in there.

I just had a shop install mine here in GA
They charged $125 / hour for labor and charged me 6 hours
I had to buy the gaskets which were cheap at about $22 for the whole set I believe then the studs and copper nuts at $2 each +/-
Total all in all ways around $900

If you have a two post lift you can do this without pulling the motor.
Couple of youtube videos explaining dropping the steering rack rather than pulling the motor.
You might want to consider switching to upgraded engine mounts, this will not lower the bill but transfer maybe an hour of labor since doing headers without the engine mount in the way is apparently much more convenient and you'll end up replacing them at some point more than likely.
As far as the bill goes, that is going to depend on your choice of shop there is no benchmark average cost on this one.

VRP Long tubes (3 piece each side)
They didn't drop the motor. All from underneath using a lift. Some of the bolts are a pain
Place is called RaceIQ

6-7 hours for VRP headers that directly mate to unmolested factory secondary resonators. Refer to post #3 in the link below. 10 hours for removing/replacing/chasing any broken studs in the process along with configuration fabrication.

if anyone in SoCal is looking for a nice set of Supersprint LTH, i have a set that came out of my C63 black series (less than 10k miles on them because the car has lesser mileage than that, they were installed by the previous owner), these headers are very easy to install, fits right in without modification; also comes with some high-flow cats setup that will pass smog on obd2 reading.
just wanted to put this info out there, available for pickup.

I am not sure where you live. But I know a shop who did my friends headers for $600 last year. I called them a few days ago for my headers, and luckily the price is the same for installation. I will be taking my car.
